Hello All,

I just picked up an Eco 8 as a birthday present to myself...lol I'm new to electric heli's. Any suggestions of what to up grade for strength not just for show. What motor and esc set up is good for this heli.

Also, can you guys help me out with data for the pinion sizes to get the best head speed and power etc. And last is there a link here with info for beginners on electric heli's. These things are way different than my nitro ones. All your help and input would really be appreciated.

10 cell NiMH w/Mega 20/22/3H motor: 15T
4 Cell LiPO w/Mega 20/22/3H motor: 12T

Best upgrade to the 120 degree aluminum swashplate, aluminum 120 degree servo mounting plates, and upgrade the stock tail bearings to thrust bearings or at least double radial bearings. If you run very high head speeds it has been recommended to upgrade the main blade bearings to thrust bearings as well. I just received the Viper main blade thrust bearing kit (Ikarus parts) and I'm going to see if they fit.

Do the bearings fit? Sure is a good price if they do.

Dammit they don't fit. they are 4x10x4mm, and Eco appears to need 4x11x4mm bearings for the head.

Anyone know another source?

main thrust bearings

The bearing are acutally 4x10x4mm, but there's a special cup adapter that one of the washers sits in to make it fit properly, and there's a T-nut that extends the length of the feather shaft to accomodate the extra bearing thickness. CMEHobbies has them for $35 plus shipping, they work realy well on my model.
BTW, I have a set of tail rotor thrust bearings for sale if you're interested - let me know.

Welcome to the world of the eco 8. Fly it as it comes. It flies fine. Upgrade as you break things. Then you will know your upgrade works. As for a site to go to, there is a site just for the eco 8. www.dream-models.com Go there and spend a few days. You will find ALL the necessary info. Good luck with your new eco8 and have fun.

I'm making my way back........

Yup, the only truly mandatory change needed initially is installing the autorotation gear if using brushless power.
