Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Avant vs. Stratus

I like the frame layout on the Avant (looks less busy) but the site says that the Stratus is lighter. I got some grant money for a project and need the lightest 90 size. I'm contemplating between the Avant and Stratus. Thanks!

You need to look at more than which is lighter. How big is your budget because if you crash anyone of them it's going to cost you to fix. If you can barely afford to by it then you won't be able to fix it. Also if your gonna be worried about cost you will probably be afraid to fly it.

Anyway seeing both of the ships and talking to someone about building the avant the avant in my opinion is gonna give you a headache. Ahhhh, just pick one and fly it.

Money is not much of an issue. All that is required for the project is hovering, just need it to carry alot of weight. Afterwards though, once the project is done, I do want something that'll 3D. I want to put the Avant head on the Stratus though...

A gasser would be better suited for heavy lifting duties.

Unfortunately a gasser is out of the budget so the 90 is the next size down. Besides, I get to keep the stuff after the project and want something I can 3D !

Good machines. I am not sure why you would think the avant head is better. The Miniature head is solid and works well. The avant head may have more holes but once you "tune" it why would you change it. Most that I have seen end up setting it just like the Miniature head.

Both good machines. Don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Well the reason I want the Avant head is because I want the heli very docile for the project and once the project is complete, I want to 3D.

Sounds like you have made up your mind. Get the Avant and fly the hell out of it. If you like the head just get the heli. Also since the avant is still in kit form it won't cost that much less than just getting a gasser(just a FYI

Well, I'm still leaning towards the Stratus because it's lighter. I just want the Avant head. Is the Avant available as a kit? I've only seen it as a conversion.

Can you get the Avant as a kit or do you have to buy the Freya and then upgrade? If it is the case that I must buy the Freya kit and conversion, it would be much easier to go with the Stratus and cheaper...
