why couldn't I/someone take a small fan like a small duct-fan and mount it to the tail output shaft, like on the Century Hawk and use a H 500E fuselage to make a H 500E Notar,,,

I know they make duct fans for the Cox 049 and 10 size motors,,, if need be some of the frame could be cut off where the tail output shaft extends, to get the fan closer to the bearings for support,,, it may need a 46 for more power, but thats Ok,,,

then make up some vent for the tail,,,

what yea think ??

If I were going to do a MD 900 or 500 Notar I'd prefer it be in the 60 size range. 30 size scalers suffer from a lacking power to weight ratio it one get's too involved or detailed in the building and detail.

If you were strictly going to build one as sport scale that wouldn't be too bad.

more power

being a Notar larger main blades could be used, and as I said a larger motor could be used even a 50,,, now you got power !!

There is a very big difference in the boom diameter between the 500E and the 520N. You may not be able to put enough air down the small diameter of the 500E fuse to make it work. Also, there is not enough room back there to make the tail controllable.

come on guys

I thought you guys were modelers,,,

so we hack off the tail boom and glue on a bigger thin walled aluminum tube for the new Notar boom,,, and as for the tail control, something would work out, it allways does !!

come-on guys get your head working !!

we're scale heli modelers here, and someone got to make this, I will IF I can come up with the money !!

Anyone have a junk Funky 500e? I like the idea of cutting off the tail and replacing it... Making a new fiberglass tail would be quite simple and very inexpensive once the mold is done. I figure making the mold and a prototype tail would be under $100 in materials provided you have the tools laying around...

If anyone has the main body let me know and I would concider getting into this project and help make it work!

Wasp drop me a line, we can try this out! I know the fiberglass side but not the mechanical side....
