I wonder how the marketing/competition will fare up now.

Align T-Rex 600 info/pictures/videos was let loose to the public long long before it is even released.

Now, other major manufacturer's will be in the same arena but without the marketing strategy of the Rex.

It will be a nice summer this year.

... But honey it was only $$$

Batteries.. The largest EP heli I would ever go would be a Quick Japan QJ8.

Me 2, Quick Japan Ep-8 is big enough to still be affordable battery wise in a crash running 2 x 3s TP2100's (that and its miles better value too), imagine how you would feel pulling a mashed $400 battery out of a wreck

IMO for me and where I live, the main advantage of electric is that you can fly a micro/small heli locally, almost anywhere, without annoying folk. A big 50 sized e-heli is going to be dangerous and therefore needs to be flown in saftey at a club site or a field. And if your going to the trouble of driving to a club site, you may as well get a gasser or a nitro and spend the whole day flying there, instead of just a couple of 8 minute electric flights.

Well two 7s emoli Li-Ion packs cost less than $200 and will give very good 3D power with apoox. 7-8min duration (many videos to prove this in a 50 size). Plus you can charge them up to 3C. I fly down the road at fields so size is nice.

Yeah 15C 3000mah eMolis are the best thing to happen to electrics for ages, I made 4 5s packs from 3 £60 V28's, Flightpower want £115 for one 5s 3300 lipo.

Lucky you with a nearby field, round here if theres a plot of land bigger than a garage they build a house on it.

I always wonder why Align just didnt build a machine that would run on the same types of batteries already used in the TREX, just wired in series to make up for the difference in size , so that customers that already have a TREX could just buy more of the same batteries to fly both. I really think they were "MisAligned" when producing this thing.

A 6S2P 4200mah battery would be 4 T-Rex 3S 2100mah packs wired up as one battery (2 wired in series, then those two wired in parallel).

yes, but if you look at all those pictures of them testing it out, they arent doing this, they are using these $400 Prolites. Could you imagine charging 4 packs just to get one flight? I have to charge 2 just for one flight and thats taxing enough, imagine 4, Youd have to own a lipo factory. How often would you be able to fly this thing in one given day if you only had one battery? and the cost of buying 2 just scares me away.

Get yourself a Great Planes Polycharge 4.
Charges up to 4 lipo's at once and can all be started individually and for different sizes too.
Charges up to 4s packs, $99US. Only thing I dont like is there is no display to tell you voltage and Mah put in.
Im looking at getting one of these in the next month or so.
4 packs charged in the same time as 1, gotta be good

If you bling it, they will come :D

For 3-4 minutes ?

The 6S2P 4200 issue has been rehashed over and over again.

3-4 minutes flight time of good 3D 'IF' you have excellent collective management skills, otherwise it's 3 mins of a lot of bogging.

At LEAST 6S3P 6000 or 10S2P 4200 TP prolite's @ $550 each.

Get those CC's ready.

Went with the A50 for $199 with the 86T/9T gears... however !

If I was to re-do it, I would get the Z-50 with the 86T gear and the eCCPM kit all for $209 which is a hard price to beat.

It's crazy.

I put together my e-Raptor RTF with 2 moli packs for $70 more than my G4 Rex RTF.

The cost for my e_raptor was as follows:

used Raptor 50 w/o eng : $220
CC45HV : $130
UBEC : $45
2X 11S1P moli packs : $310
V blades 600's : $60
401/9254 : $150
A50 conv kit : $199
9202's cyclic : $90
small pc fan : $10

= $1,214 including enough batteries for two 10 min ugly 3D flights.

If you can toss all that onto the Rex 600, then you can do it for under $1,500 I'm assuming, which is still great for a 50-sized bird.

Keep in mind most of those are used prices and I shopped around.

I had the pleasure of watching Erich Stolz fly the 600 with the latest pre-production motor yesterday in Glendale.

He flew with the equivalent of 4 normal T-Rex batteries, and to those that commented the 600 is underpowered, you're in for a surprise! This bird is awesome!

I'm going to set back and watch this one for awhile. I realize Align is very responsive to the needs of their client and that's why the T-Rex has done so well, but I think I'll wait for version three. I'm very happy with my eRaptor's for now.
