Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Engine stops in mid -air

This morning i flew my raptor 30 and was doing some loops and firgure 8, out of a sudden my engine dies off. And it auto-rotate from a height of 2-3 storey, as it was about to land it come crashing at 1 meter height.
Was wondering what is the reason for the engine stoppage. I have notice that the first coil of my OS 8 glow plug is not glowing, its only the second coil onwards is glowing.
My muffler is also slightly loose.

Well, Seeing that your muffler was lose, you could have lost compression and fuel feed.

Its pretty easy to tell. How hot does you engine get? Also what motor is it?

Old fuel? I grabbed an old (previously opened) gallon of fuel by mistake the other day. First two flights on the jug ended with 2 unplanned autorotations, once during a roll and the other on launch. Further testing showed the engine kept dying under any significant load. This particular jug had been sitting for a long time in storage. This got me thinking so I pulled a new gallon of fuel and ever since the heli has been flying just fine...

Syphonics, that's a good question. The obvious escaped me. Have you checked the operating temp on the head?

Richen it about 4 clicks. Mabe more. On a blue sky day there should be a nice strand of smoke behind it.

I think in the range of 120-150 degrees f. On the head.

You should be able to hold your finger on it for at least 5 seconds or so and not get burned.

That might have been because the plug got too hot and burned. I would change it to be sure.

When your muffler came loose you lost muffler pressure to the fuel tank. This, in turn, resulted in the engine running quite lean. no mystery.

As for the glow plug, replace it.

Finally, if this has happened before (and loosing muffler pressure wasn't the culprit), then I suggest you check for a tear in the fuel line inside the fuel tank. Most likely quite near where it fits onto the bung.

Kindest regards,
