I just received two 3S1P battery packs from TrueRC - 11.1 volts and 4000 Mah. I want to wire them in parallel for use in my Voyager E but want to make 100% sure I am doing it correctly.

What is the best way of doing this? Do I attached a connector to each battery pack and then make a Y-connector which has both positive leads coming together into one socket and both negative leads into the other socket? I am using Astro zero loss connectors.

Thanks in advance for your help. These lipos give me the willies...

Also, what is the best size pinion to use with 11.1 volts on a VE?

If you are happy with a permanent 3s2p, you can connect the + to + and - to - like a "Y," upside down, i.e., one lead is longer, the other is soldered into the longer one a few inches from the end. Then the + and - go into one end of your connector.

If you want to keep your 3s1p packs separate, I recommend you buy a 3s3p.

I thought most people used a Y-coupler so that they could charge them seperately. Is this not the case? It now occurs to me that charging together saves more time, although balancing might be more of an issue.

Thanks for the advice - ironically enough, as I was attempting to install the packs in my VE last night, one of the cells got so compressed that it started leaking and spewing noxious gases. I guess it "vented" due to the compression. Pretty traumatic though no one was hurt - my wife who is 8 months pregnant waited upstairs while I aired out the downstairs. Gotta love those lipos.
