I will remove the lithium battery and check and replace it before I reset the transmitter. This radio was bought new from Heliproz about a month ago and the lithium battery is already dead. I wonder how long this radio set on the shelf. I have a calibrated Fluke Multimeter that I can take the reading with. Hopefully it is a common size that I can find at Wal-mart or Radio Shack.

Sport,
My radio was 5 years old when its battery went. When I sent it in to Airtronics to reset it they replaced the batt for free!

Granted, I'm only a state away from them but it was only about two weeks turn around to get my radio back so I doubt it would be much longer for you. Something to consider if you have trouble getting it solved for yourself.

Sport10:
Your radio is still under warranty. I would call heliproz and see what they will do for you! It does not look like it is easy to remove the lithium bat. It has multiple solder connections underneath itself. Once I get mine out, I plan on using a computer battery with wire leads and a 2 pin deans connector. For something that the designers knew would have to be serviced, they sure didn't make it easy!

Alan

P.S. Does anyone know if there is a date of manufacture anywhere on the radio?

I will have to give heli proz a call. It it gets down to it removing the lithium battery should not be a problem for me since I am an electronic technician. I pretty much just think the software just had a hickup and that the backup battery is fine. I will check this with my multimeter to verify.

I've got a few minutes this morning, so I thought I would just type in the directions. You guys can just print them out.

Open the front panel LCD by removing 4 screws. You will now see the 3 volt lithium battery, Airtronics p/n 798A30025A. After replacing the battery, you must recalibrate the transmitter. If this is not done, the transmitter will not operate properly. The follwing steps demonstrate how to calibrate the STYLUS transmitter.

1. Open the back of the case and battery cover on the back of the TX. You will see IC 10.
2. Set all sticks, trim pots, VR9, 10, 11, and 12 at center position (ie neutral)
3. Make sure the transmitter is switched off.
4. Use tweezers to short pin #9 to pin #10 of IC 10, then turn transmitter on.
5. Now look at the LCD panel display.

SVC NEUT TRV LCD
SW MEM VR BA-ALM

During this step you will see the NEUT indication blink. If you do not see the above displayon step 5, go back to step 4 and do it again.
6. Assuming you see the NEUT indication blink, press the YES/+ key. You will then see:
{Neutral-Adjust
{Push Yes key
7. Press the YES/+ key again, and you will see "OK"
8. Press the END key.
9. Move the cursor > to the right and you will see TRV blink. Press the YES/+ key. You will see:
{Travel-Adjust
{Push Yes key
10. Push all sticks, trims, VR9, 10, 11, and 12 to full high and press the YES/+ key.
11. Now, push all sticks, trims, VR9, 10, 11, and 12 to the opposite position from step 10 and press the YES/+ key.
12. Next, position all sticks, trims and VR's to the center neutral position.
13. Press the END key.
14. Move the cursor > to the right and you will see LCD blink.
15. Press the YES/+ key twice.
16. Press the END key twice.
17. Move the cursor > to the right until BA-ALM blinks.
18. Press the YES/+ key. You should see BA-ALARM > 9.1
19. Press the END key.
20. Move the cursor > to the right untill you see PPM-INV blinking.
21. Press the YES/+ key. You will then see:
{PPM - INV > ON
{ > OFF
If PPM - INV > OFF is blinking, push the YES/+ key to turn it on.
If PPM - INV > ON is blinking do nothing.
22. Press the END key.
23. Move the cursor > to the right until you see TRAINER. Then press the YES/+ key. You will then see: TRAINER > ON
24. Press the END key.
Move the cursor > to the right until you see SANWA (or ATX) blinking. At this step if you see SANWA, press the YES/+ key. It will then change to ATX which is what we want. The calibration is complete. Turn the transmitter off.

Good Luck

The procedure worked great. My radio is now operating more like normal and all of the missing options are back. I checked my lithium battery and the voltage was 3.055VDC. I did notice what you are talking about. The battery seems to either be tack welded or soldered to the holder so the whole assembly will have to be removed. Man that makes it alot more complex of a job. On the instructions I wish they were more clear when setting the travel. It just says to push all sticks high and then opposite. But what is considered high on the elevator/aileron stick upper left or upper right. I believe that if you do this backward you will have to reverse channels that were once normal direction. Also make sure to do all the channels too.
Thanks very much
Chris

Back to the original question of how to turn off the tail rotor mix will using heading hold mode on a heading hold gyro. I did figure out how to do this. Under the throttle menu on idle ups 1 & 2 there is an option called TRM. Set this to off for the modes you want to use heading hold on. This option is not available on the normal mode. Now I wonder it there is a way to setup the radio to all ways be on heading hold mode except when normal mode is selected. This way I only have to worry about one switch.

That trim option that you found in the t-curve menu is only on the Idle-ups because the trim they are referring to is the throttle trim. it has nothing to do with the rudder trim. If you want you can turn down the trim authority in the trm-auth menu.
