I had a bit of a mishap and now my blades are way out of whack. I can't seem to find the info I need to set tracking. Can you guys help me out here?

Thanks

Steve

I was wondering that myself. Mine track okay, but is it even adjustable!?!? Seems like the setup would not allow it!?!?

Put different colored tape on ends of blades, spin it up and see which blade tracks high. If blade tracks high you need to lower its pitch by tightening the ball link to reducing the length of the appropriate swashplate pushrod. You can find the right pushrod for that blade by following its leading edge all the way in to the pushrod. Usually do this in pairs to avoid binding -- If you lower one blade's pitch you should increase the opposite blade's pitch by unscrewing link to make pushrod longer. Tighten and loosen one turn on links then fly again to check. It takes a few attempts. And sometimes you need only to adjust one link by 1/2 turn to finally get it dead on. Hope this helps.

Maybe the reason they are not tracking properly is that the main shaft is bent? If you cant get them to track and you see vibration.....I would take it apart and check the shaft to see if it is bent.

I took it all apart (for the first time). I couldn't get the collar off that rests on the bearing block above the main gear (someone before me stripped the set screw), so I really had to take the whole thing apart. Lost a z rod in the process (where the hell does this stuff really go when you drop it?????)so had to make a new one. Long story short....the shaft was ok. After I was done, it was mysteriously tracking much better. I seems to be out 1/4" or so now, so I'll adjust the pushrods and re check.

This side-in hover is killing me. You should see the boom strikes! Poor thing is really looking like some psycho took an axe to it. Oh well, it still flies and I'm making progress. I'm going to make some training gear this weekend to keep the crashes from busting it up evertime I loose control. I think I'll wrap some high density foam around the boom while I'm at it. I know.....slow it down....take it easy.

New parts on the way...

Thanks for the info guys. I'd like to get my tracking a little closer, I give it a go tomorrow

As for the crashes, or should I say hard landings, I have a big one tonight right into the side of my car after bouncing off of it the Corona took a long slide over the asphalt and finally can to rest in a bunch of bushes. Well the car was fine, the Corona was fine, and I got another few minutes of flying in before the pack gave out. You gotta love the durability of this heli. I look at my Trex or Shogun the wrong way and they break!!!!

A good boom protector is a piece of balsa wrapped up in electrical tape.

computerbob,

Great instructions for tracking the Corona blades. I did it to mine and they are dead on now Well they were, the ground stike at full throttle might have knocked them out agian Heli's just doesn't fly as well when the tail rotor stops spinning

I guess it all depends on how you hit the ground and at what head speed the blades are at. Some days I could hit the ground hard, many times in a row, before the tracking went out. And then there are days when a little brush with the Earth moves the blades. There's nothing worse than finally get good tracking only to loose it on one crash. I did noticed that I had fewer tracking problems with a reinforced featherplate.

Blade tracking pic...need more specifics

Ok, I'm a bit dense I guess. I took a pic and numbered the pushrods. Which one do I adjust to lower the red blade?
