i've noticed that most of the notars i have seen built have only a two bladed rotor system. the md520n and the 900 both have 5 blade rotorsystems on the full size machines. is there a problem with the models???? just curious. how bout it joe??

In the 520 you use the Webra 75 and in the 900, Vario in Germany recommends the Webra 70. With that said, when you couple the torque produced by 5 blades, and the fact that the motor probably loses 25% of its power turning the big fan on the bottom of the motor to power the tail, you quickly run out of tail authority flying either in this situtation if the motor is not set exactly right. That is until now that i have been retrofitting the Webra 91 into both versions, and there is not problem with the 5 blade head as this motor has enough power to handle the load. My 520 now flys around with the flybarred head with plenty of authority, and when flying season rolls around next spring i will probably have the 5 blader back on.

Speaking of retrofitting, what would it take to bring the exhaust out ofthe back of the MD900 instead of through the bottom?

Thanks,
Mark

Cut out the side of the cooling support tunnel, and rotate the muffler to the middle of the back of the fuse. Glass in some fiberglass cloth around the cut area of the tunnel, and you are all set.

As long as the engine has a solid 8mm crank from the bearing to the threads, you can use it, in other words, no stepped crank. That leaves YS out.
