sniff sniff after a another new rebuild ,,servo gears ,flybar, spindle, mainshaft, skids, ect Im flying around my yard for a few minutes and there goes my tail no more gyro,so I try to counter attack and in it goes...EVERY ^#^%@$#%$ TIME its something. I had my 401/9254 in HH holding fine then it just quits,I had a fully charged 4s tanic pack so it wasnt a voltage problem. Is it possible for a 401 to work fine and then quit for some reason,,its still working after the crash. Does a gyro either work or it doesnt ? I have had a few crashes with this gyro but its always worked. If I had to much of an amp draw can that make a gyro fail and not recover? Can someone help my dumbass figure this out? Thanks Pals

sounds to me like a voltage problem, or radio interference, how do you know some guy down the street isnt playing with his RC toy somwhere?

What are you using to power your RX? ive read that the 401 and the 9254 draw more amps than you might think, combine that with 3 more servos and...

did the heli piro in one direction? you might check the bearings in the tail grips.

Thanks for the advice

I will never know what caused this ,,,hell it could even be a jealous girlfriend putting her bubble gum on my tail linkage while I wasnt looking

dont give up yet, you should do some forensics on your parts to isolate the problem. You dont want to rebuild the machine only to have it happen again, I think you should do through a process of elimination start with one thing and dont stop until you know that it didnt fail. I asked you before what you were using to power your RX? Also, are you using PPM or PCM? Lets take this one step at a time.

using a ubec? or what kind of ESC/bec? I am running cc45 with UBEC on 4S and it is butter smooth. (only about 2000rpm, and need to get 17tooth to get it up to 2200 or so) otherwise, I've been happy with my setup. (stretched running 420mm woodie)

I think what caused this crash is my Tanic 4s 2450 packs must be getting old .But why does my 401 loose power ? this has caused my last 2 crashes. Should I use a seperate battery for my 401.I use a Triton charger isnt there a feature that tells me if the battery is bad? The pack charges to 16.33 volts . Any new advice? Thanks

is the medusa a 6v? this is very important because The 401 wont handle 6v. Futaba strongly says dont do it. You need to find out. I used to run a 6v NiCd but i used a regulator on the 401.

Loosing power

What about the S9254 servo? I had one quit of a sudden I let it run back and forth on my TX with servo test and it just quit after some 10 minutes. This was posably the reason I crashed mine.

Also if youre bec is loosing power for a split second, the GY401 will see youre stick position at that time as the new neutral poist. In this case you have tail responce, but not what you like. It will piroette fast to one side.

If it's the servo, you will not have any tail responce at all.

im not a rocket scientest but after the rebuild, id wait and replace both the 401 and servo. Seriously, if the voltage bucked low, youd have the other servos twitch also...you could have bad connections simply due to age/oxicidation on connectors...

If you have another bird, switch gyro/servo to rule one way or the other...

as for 6v to a 401, its simply a 1n4004 in the hot lead from whee you plug into channel 4 on the rx...this drops aprox .7v and you get about 5.3 volts to gyro and servo...simple $.05 solution to the 6v issue..
