I think you must go with a 16T pinion to shoot for a 2700/2800 hs but you need an HV esc

The A30 8XL is for a 3s setup and 24T pinion (i think)

If you want to go with 4s you must use a 18T pinion

For a 900 Kv motor. If you use a different motor with different Kv you need a different pinion size.

I just saw the video form the "Freak"!! Looks like a solid little heli. I think that 4s and the right pinion could really make that thing come alive.

did you Know?

By the time you by the elctronics for this bird( battery(s) as well) charger balancer you will have well over 2000.00 in this little bird I don't know about you but that leaves a lot a guys out

I'd say about twice as much as an SE.

$2,000.00 ?! Ouch Ouch Ouch!!

My blinged out Raptor 50 Hyper cost much less than that!

Is Hirobo listening and paying attention? For $650 or so, they need to include a motor and an ESC at least.

I only paid $299 for my Hirobo EVO 30. How can they justify more than twice as much for a smaller heli???

mmm, because the Lepton is ALL topshelf carbon/aluminum and the Evo30
is plastic?

No one is forcing anyone to buy the Lepton EX. Wait for the plastic
version.

And there is exactly zero chance they will 'throw in' a motor and
controller for the $600-650 cost.

If you dont want to play at this level, step off the field.

Be that as it may...

The Trex SE is all "topshelf carbon/aluminum" and you can get one for $490 that includes the motor and ESC.

But let's compare apples to apples...

For $400 you can get the Trex SE Frame only. $250 more for the Lepton EX Frame (at $650) just seems a bit steep to me....

Looks like an excessive markup for Hirobo...

I'm just saying that it doesn't seem logical or reasonable...

I flew jeff's lepton @ MHA!!!

thanks Jeff for letting me take the lepton for a spin your a brave man lol

for all of you who are wondering how it flew ...it's flight characteristics were very predictable ,very smooooth and stable yet crisp fast cyclic...it flew like it was on rails ...I predict that this is going to be a popular bird the quality is A1 !!! VERY VERY simple design, low parts count all CF and CNC parts this is a real quality bird..after flying trexs all winter and spring the lepton size was so ez to see in the sky..

I flew it with the 3s2p apex Hyperion out-runner, cc p60 esc .. approx 2600 hs....and it was lively !!..I can't wait to get mine and dial up the HS and try some 4s and 5s high voltage setups...it should be a rocket ship

I bet once this heli hits the streets you guys are going to rave about this heli ....

Thanks JEFF!!!
and thanks to all the guys how put on such a great Heli FF at MHA

Sorry but I've handled, built and sold many Trex SE's in the
retail environment.

it's aluminum is mediocre cast and the carbon is paper thin.

Believe me, you aren't comparing the same thing.

You haven't seen the Lepton up close. I have. It's a MUCH
more substantial, better designed machine.

Yes, the Lepton EX IS positioned as a top of the line mini-electric
and as such, yes, it's price has some padding but not what you
are accusing them of.

Add to that, the Lepton is bigger than a T-REX. It looks to be between a T-REX and a .30.

OK OK - I give!!

And to some extent I am playing devil's advocate. I know that you pay a lot more for quality, refinement, and performance when you buy an Acura NSX over an Acura RSX. And you get diminishing return on your investment as you approach the upper levels of the market.

My $4,000 mountain bike is not 4 times better than a $1,000 mountain bike. But it is better, it is more refined, and there is a performance advantage.

So, what kind of blades are they including with the Lepton EX!!

z11355 is right the lepton is more substantial in every way, 30% BIGGER, top quality CF, and CNC parts , etc etc.. the trex no doubt is a unreal value and is king in it's class ..but they are not apples and apples sorta more like a orange and apple...

there is many many e-helis hitting the market all sizes and price ranges ,and quality, I'm sure we can all find what suits our needs and budget.. the nice thing about the lepton we can use all your trex 3s1p packs and use them as 3s2p's for a lepton
