I think thats it willy. You probably got hold of the TRex V3 bearing that compensates for the out of round main . I think the the spring loaded bearing on the front shaft/pulley assembly that I got in my kit is probably V3 as well. When the one way bearing is not offset enough to keep the main gear against the pinion, the spring loaded bearing kicks the gear on around past the loose mesh

I gripe about the TRex alot and always will until its right but it is a nice design. Some say you can't complain because its inexpesive but to me $500+ is not inexpensive and for that price it should at least have good bearings.

I know you do good work finless so this is not a stab. I think alot of what I find is due to how picky I am. I remember the first time I came to the field and I asked you about the blade balancing on the TRex because I had never balanced such small blades. You mentioned you had not had to balance any yet. I don't know how many you had purchased at that time but out of the 10 or sets I have dealt with, building mine and others, I have not seen a set that did not require balancing. I just opened 4 sets tonight and they all required balancing.

I'm just picky that way. Like Willy I have also purchased NIP items, main and spindle shafts that were untrue. Alot of people will not even check these items. Granted these were not bent so bad that you would think they had been in a crash but still not true.

I did not have as much of a bearing problem on my first TRex but did have bad bearings. One in the grips that sounded and felt like gravel and one on the front shaft that moved like it had 3 or 4 ball in it. Tims had some rough bearings as well. Again though what myself and someone else considers rough is probably completely different.

That is probably my biggest problem... over analyzing (except for the bearings )

Ok, first of all, I dont want anyone to "morph" what I said...Thanks to those who havent!!! I love the t-rex, and it is not my first heli by a longshot, and I love to throw money at helis....the problem is specifically with ALIGN USA denying that problems exist until catastrophic events occur (tails exploding, swashes exploding)...etc...and more specific to me, them denying that their is a tail (or belt) problem (alignment or material) as recent as LAST week. Their total BS is further proven by JK's latest video in which he addresses andy and the crew that he may have found a tail belt problem fix (spray wd-40)...this is total BS guys.

So, those who DO want to send a solid message to the company, I will edit this post as needed (editing the original post) and make an updated list of QC issues to date...just PM me or reply here. I cant gaurantee daily updates, but i will try. I promise you, those people will eventually see it (and it will be organized and uniform, besides, even though they told me last week that they dont read RunRyder, they also told me there is no tail problem, so I'm sure they do monitor this site).

Best case, ANDY comes here and apologizes for denying that there are serious problems with the SE kit (V1), and the previous versions issues (plastic swash pops, CDE canopy issues, etc), worse case...i spend time posting message on helicopter boards, lol. win-win.

For those of you who want to keep dumping money into Align parts....dump away, you dont have to read or bump this post.

How sad it must be to line up and take it.

Ha..... OK so try to get Enron to come and personally appologise...

Dude... you have delusions of grandure....

What the heck do you think you are accomplishing here? Nothing but a be-atch session.... Do you think posting this issue here as you have will get you anywhere? If anything you have probably destroyed any possibility of getting good service.

Call them up.... Ask for Noel... If he tells you to pound sand (and they might!) then you have your answer but I bet you wont....

Sheesh.... freakin whiners...

Willy:

"Show me an arf heli that flys out of the box?,"

It's called a Blade CP. I learned to fly on that last summer.

I brought it home, topped off the battery, and 15mins later I was out on my deck hovering.

Not nearly as sophisticated as a REX, but for $200 complete, it's hard to beat. BTW, they just came out the the Blade CP Pro. Mostly small updates, but should be upgradeable to a Brushless setup easier. I still love my Blade. And everything FITS.

Bob:

Are you saying you never had any problems with the plastic XL CCPM and the Canopy? I know I keep going on about this, but I can't see how you couldn't have a problem with the stock setup.

Sorry if you think I'm a snivler. I too much of a REX Noob to have too much to say on all the Bling and such. My kit was overall OK, my gears are usable, no big tail problems (I did put the Align metal tail box on right off the bat though). And the tail slider is not a high quality setup. The ball link for the anti-rotation pin didn't fit rigth, and took a little strategic sanding, etc. Thanks to your excellent vids and good suggestions here, I have a nice flying heli.

But I think this company could easily fix a couple things and improve the experience dramaticaly. And that Canopy XL situation, all I can say is "Argh".

Cheers!

Where did the "morphing" comment come from? I missed that part, or is it because of the recent discussion about bearings?

Another fine part in the align kit

Got everything done and my motor arrived this morning. I go to install the pinion and no resistance, it would not tightend down. The frikin pinion has just a hint of any type of thread in it.

Its times like this that its good I am not within reach of someone associated with align.

Huh? Jeremy it was compressed using windows movie maker! Maybe you have bad codecs? Try left clicking on the link and downloading it to your hard drive and playing it locally.

The problem appears to be because the links are now ftp'd. I bet the mime type is not correct or something like that. Lithiumstatic is not alone with this problem of being unable to open your links to videos anymore. The solution is as you suggest, right click and download to your own harddrive. They then open up fine in WMP.

I kind of like the idea of an errata list like you have in the first post, but is there any chance you could seperate the issues by heli they apply to? Also links to the known fixes would be nice. I would love to see a list like this for every bird before I buy it.

All in all, the SE is a great bird if you do the fixes.

I can try, if people can casually help me find the links, I will continue to edit the first post....

and to the above poster by "morph" i meant that finless cant seem to get through his skull that I love the t-rex and have the time, money, patience, enjoyment to fix it, it is the parent company I have a problem with because the ARE NOT standing behind their products (think of all the thousands of people out there who dont read runryder or other RC forums!!!!!!). And i pity anyone who doesn't think they can change the way a company (and Align is NOT a big company by any means, lol, I'm definitely up to that challenge).

I really dont understand the ad homenim attacks, but ohh well, typically those spewing them have little substance to offer anyway.

Technically, Bob was pretty much doing the same thing. Hence why I called him on it.

haha! I forgot how we last ended this thread. And on that note, JCrack, you should add "All Align motors" to the list.
