Henseleit 3DNT - Rocket - 3DMP > 3DNT construction question

I am just fitting the skid set to my 3DNT and have a bit of a query that I am hoping someone here can answer

Basically, the nylon plate holder (0342) when assembled in the side frames have a gap between them when they are pressed firmly home. The M4*70 bolts (0338) are passed through these and tightened with an M4 nyloc and a washer under the head of the bolt and the nut.

My questions are....

1/ Should there be a gap between the nylon plate holders, and if so this will obviously close when tightening the M4*70 bolt ?

2/ The M4*70 bolt does not seem long enough to accomodate for the nyloc nut to be tightened far enough onto the protruding end of the bolt. Is this correct ?

Thanks in advance

one pair is made for the front and the other is made for the rear. The slits are cut differently if I recall correctly.

Carps,

That is exactly the way my landing gear is. I really think it needs a longer bolt. The nylock portion of the nut is useless with the bolt's present length.

Hey Carps,

How difficult has the construction been so far? Did you go for left hand or right hand rotation?

Hmmm...getting close to my flying target before a new purchase and feelin the itch... hehehe

Pretty bloody easy, as it goes. This has been my only query.

Apparently Jan Henseleit knows that the bolt is too short and you just leave the washers off ! The gap between the two plate holders is intentional and closes up when you tighten the bolts.

I'd say I spent about 2 hours on it last night, and have pretty much the whole front end together upto the swashplate.

Everything fits together brilliantly, and the quality of finish is superb (only exception being this silly bolt !)

I got a clockwise rotation in the end as a lot of people recommended against the ccw.

Thanks, Cyberheli sells both so just wondering what the pros and cons are. In any case, it looks like a fantastic heli and i have yet to hear a bad thing said about it so i reckon you are gonna love it.

FWIW I left the washers on, but used threadlock on the bolts - they've never come loose, and I've had to replace the 'sacrificial' landing gear holders about four times now .

They do save a lot of damage elsewhere, like those four bits on the head that the flybar assy slides around on - you know what it's like, you don't buy a ThreeDeeNT and hover gently around do you .

Good job the parts are readily available from NHP!

Cheers
Richard.
P.S. I've seen one of these with the nylon undercarriage holders cut out on a lathe the size of the washer so everything fits in - a nice touch if you have access to a lathe.

Nearly finished :)

All the servos are in now.
Engine is fitted with modified fan to fit the Webra
Just got to layout the radio gear and get the canopy back from having the screen painted (I *hate* painting).
Anyone else got a 601/502 and a GV-1 fitted ? If so, where did you put the control units ? I'm thinking about mounting them on the radio plate and sticking the receiver to the side frame. Also, the GV-1 sensor looks like it belong on the carbon fibre fan shroud support. Anyone else fit it here, or should I stick to the standard mount ?

Had one bit of bad luck - the servo for the throttle (9205) is duff so it has to go back to Hong King Hopefully Stephen at CyberHeli will swap it over mucho pronto as it quite like to give it a test flight next weekend.
Make that two, actually. One of the nuts that holds the nipples on the fuel tank was split along one of the flats ! Weird. Revo Models are sending me a replacement.

The Webra has been a very straight forward fit. The only changes I have had to make are to enlarge the hole in the fan to 7.8mm, and to mount the throttle servo upside down to get the best run between carb and servo.

Not long now...
