I just purchased my Swift from a major vendor - and I'm told that he does not have the new kits... apparently they are only available thru Century direct? Other than the head what are the new parts on the yellow canopy model? I heard landing gear...?

So much for Century saying kits bought after Feb 24th not included in the disaster list.

...the way I see it...

I believe the date part has to be related to when the newer kits were released and therefore not included in claims as it "should have" the revised newer heads and landing struts only.

Should we assume that these 'newer" batch/version is the yellow canopy only?

I also believe that the serial number plays a mayor role as it is the only way "they" know who is legit regardless of when purchased. They know when the changes were made and after which number it applies to.

If you purchased an older kit, regardless of the date and from whom, call century and I'm sure they will honor your request depending on serial number. After all, if you are not subscribed to any forum, how do you know its issues to begin with? Of course, you will find out sooner or later.

As a distributor...
Could they have made claims based on remaining inventory in order to have these upgrades included in boxes for future purchasers?

It definitely sounds cheaper than returning the old batch per say...if indeed it's practiced. But as not "all" had the case of the shakes, not a good deal on century side...so claims should be from user.

IF they don't honor your request, it WILL becomes a buyer beware and distributor might end up being stuck with merchandise and the problem will be among them and Swift sales could dwindle.

While writing this, a potential solution is for distributor to make purchaser AWARE that if he gets the shakes, to call century...but could it kill the sale?....quite a conumdrum.

IF indeed yellow canopy denotes newer revised parts, the it should be first question asked to vendor...what color canopy is in box?

Or better yet...my box shows a white canopy photo...of those with the yellow ones...what is on your box?

BTW...box is not sealed and they can find out if photo on box does not give a clue.

EDITED:
AS per a previous post...IF newer versions are only available via century...the above white/yellow canopy is then a given...it should have revised parts.

Time for a break...too much rambling indeed.

Pete - phew hard going. In my simple terms the there are two issues:

1. Some of these helis shake (and replacement bits and bobs haven't helped all persons) so Century would be well advised to ask the question does it shake and if we say YES then supply parts to cure.

2. There must be old stock just being sold - the serial number may be helpful if they have pinpointed the change in tooling, date of acquisition isn't.

3. There should be a way of knowing (which I think is what you are getting at) if what you are buying is old or new and so likely to shake or not. Frankly, I think it's a lottery.

Mine shakes but since messing with the feathering spindle the shakes are within bearable limits and I can live with it until the bits arrive - and it's been a long wait and still promises to be.

phew indeed...as a tech-head I do find myself giving to many details in order to cover all the bases if possible on the first shot...lol

Sorry to hear that you have yet to receive your parts.

I did get mine on saturday...three weeks to the T...but only installed struts as it was the easiest and quickest before sunset. Sunday was a busy day.

I did mess up late yerterday trying to get that last flight (i know...don't say it) anyways...it was a good practice for an auto...it landed on tail first and struck boom....arrrrgh...but I love the autos...almost silent landings.

anyways...I will work on it this afternoon as I have a crash kit and I will replace the head with revised one, boom, spindle just because and need to inspect blades just to be sure and or rebalance just in case...oh yeah...going to replace main shaft as well.

I will post results if indeed it worked or not as I did manage to practically eliminate the shake completely when spindle ball was reduced but I was using my modified landing gear then...my shake was only a second or two.

I'm using very slow start up with the phoenix-80. I have more settings to play with and keeping track until I find the perfect combination...all needed now are a couple of emolis...time for ebay and some bidding wars

Sorry to hear the news. Always quit while you are ahead - you can always come back another day. Been waiting for the Readyheli mainshafts as I think that is where the real problem lies.

I've lost count of the number of times I've said to meself "just one more tankful" and bang - even I break my golden rule. I did that a lot with the Shuttle and either me or the bird were really too worn out to risk the extra flight.......so bang sob sob.

Hey Pete,

Not yet, hoping to get some time tomorrow evening. Hectic times lately!

Unfortunately my RX is backordered til the end of May but I might pull the one off of my VE to get my Swift running.

Can't wait!
