HEHEHE, I had it upside down yesterday at the field, If the weather holds out, I will make another video of some inverted flybys.

I'll say the MD500E, looks funny inverted.

It's great to actually see the pilots with their aircraft and actually speaking to the audience. Add a couple of stationary flips, rolls and maybe even a funnel- will drive us 500 freaks crazy
Overall how do you feel it handled in relation to a standard canopy?
Cooling OK? Thanks

I think it flys just as well with the MD500E body, as it did with the stock canopy.

I like the sound much better with the MD500E body on, but I also used some foam on the inside to deaden the sound.

As for flying, I think it flys better with the MD500E body, seemed to handle turing in the wind easier... No idea why,. maybe it is just me.

As for cooling, there is alot of airflow into the body, I think the motor might run slightly hotter, but that is why I used a 11T pinion, less amp draw and less heat.

My Next build is a Bell Jet Ranger, that will be installed on my other T-Rex 450XL.

Sweet. Bring back some memories for me. I made a plug for my Heli-Boy back in the 80’s for the E model. It caused me to fly to conservatively for fear of crashing. That is why with the re-birth of RC heli’s for me my Rex will stay pod and boom.

Have fun with it.

Got my 500D today also! Can't decide whether to paint from the inside or the outside- how about you? Did you get the optional skids and struts?

Cool

thats a pretty scale looking heli !!

yeah i would think that the windage on the big fusalage would make it even more jumpy and hard to control

but it looks like you have it under controle !

thanks for the post

I did get the scale skids and struts. They will really complete the look. Most of the pieces in the kit can be purchased at your LHS. I think I'll paint mine on the inside, especally the windows, and put ink jet decals on the outside. This project will take me awhile, but, maybe I'll post pictures on my gallery. Haven't decided yet on a paint scheme.

Did you use the standard u/c on the 500 E? Is it just screwed on to the plastic from the underside?
cheers Paul
