e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Build your best Blade CP!

OK here's the idea. Build your best Blade CP , it can be a money no object setup or something a little more humble. Include the price of the stock Blade and do not include shipping or tax.
It would be cool to see some of you guys who have built brushless with external gyros and such to itemize your stuff. This would be fun to see the most costly blade you could imagine. Here is my Blade plan for the next few months, somewhat humble but the best blade for me I think.

Blade CP 220.00
DD Tail upgrade kit 20.00
Bell Mixer Upgrade Kit 25.00
Aluminum Swashplate Set 35.00
11.1V 1200mAh 3-Cell Li-Po 48.00
Carbon Fiber Main Rotor Blades 30.00
370 Motor w/8T 0.5M Pinion 10.00
Main Motor Heatsink 3.00
Super Landing Gear Conversion Kit 20.00
Smiley Rubber Duct Antenna 25.00

I get $436 bucks for what will be a really nice custom heli. What would be cool if a hobby shop would pre build this setup and sell it for say $499 A little extra for the build effort. Call the Blade CP extreme!

Extreme "Blade"

I am not including your base price of $220 since its not necessary in this case! I've based this "Blade" on a lot of the mods I've seen people talk about/do on this forum - ie: Comp radio & brushless motors and gave it a little extra "bling" with the gyro/tail servo!

Spektrum Radio - 199
use 3 of 4 included servos in build
Icon Tail drive frame kit - 70
Century and Trex parts for frame - 52.24
tail blades/main shaft
main auto gear/skids
tail holder set
tail control assembly
Futaba 401 Gyro/S9650 tail servo - 199
Himax 2025 w/ CC Pheonix 25 ESC - 110.62
Pinion - 3

Blade CP head parts - 100.91
(I had to add those parts up twice
- they sure add up fast!)
Head Set/BH Upgrade kit/pitch links
Paddle control frame & pushrods
Aluminum Swash
Fly Bar and Paddles
Servo Rods
Spindle

OR for $9.09 more - the CNC head kit!! So I'll spend the extra $ and use the CNC kit in my cost for $110 !!

ESky CF Blades - 19.99

Did I leave anything out?? About the only thing I could think of was upgrading the 3 Spektrum servos to something else (3 HS65 +$75)
Should be a really nice micro, but a "CP" no more!

Here's the almost GRAND Total - $763.85

(but you can "knock off" approx $210 since the Spectrum TX and Futaba 401 can be shared with another heli very easily - $553.85

I would replace the following components:

Receiver: whatever
Gyro: nice one
Servos: strong ones
Main frame: bergen intrepid gasser
Rotor: 720mm
Motor: gas engine
Battery: gas tank
Skids: Aerial photography platform with vibration damping gyros

Yes it is... It transmits using 2.4GHz, and locks on to 2 Channels... See link below.

I've thrown the "Ultimate BCP" scenario around in my
head for a while and keep coming up with this prototype.

Spektrum radio manual link

here is a link to the manual -

[url=http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/Files/DX6_Maunal.pdf]

I've been using it on my BCP since January and haven't noticed any glitches. I'll post my settings here tomorrow since my TX battery died - constant beeping below 9 volts (good when flying) and it switches back to battery power when you turn it on with the charger connected!! See the manual "link" and look at page 9 for selecting Heli mode and the rest of the heli stuff starts on page 57....see you all tomorrow!

I've pondered this idea for a while, yet in the end I went bigger. However since my bosses were nice, and gave my a t-rex kit as last years bonus, I had some extra money so this is what I did.

Bought all new gear sets-8
Setup my 7c to fly it-free since my 7c wasn't bought for this, it just happen to be there.

Now it flys ok, but I don't want to drop another $200-300 making it fly somewhat better when I still need another heli. So for now that is it, maybe the day I have 2 raptor 90's I will go back and go brushless, but right now I'm happy enough.

You know you have to many heli's only when your wallet is empty.

Blade CP and Spektrum DX6 radio programming

Here you go cyclicpitcher

I've posted the info in its own thread in case anyone else is looking for my setup with the Blade CP and Spektrum. My Blade has the Direct Drive tail mod.

Here it is - http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t246819p1/

Considering this radio

JB thanks for the link to the radio.I am seriously considering this radio. I think the Spektrum radio would be perfect. Go anywhere and not concerning myself with channels. The only thing right now that concerns me about the spektrum is the 3 point curves. I am currently setting up my TREX with my JR 8103 and it has 5 point curves. I like the extra points because I can smooth out my settings to get a real scale like feel.

Heliboy, I felt the same way to go bigger. At first I was not happy with my blade, So I ordered the T-Rex HE kit, once I got the t-rex built, I realised the Blade was a perfect size for the garage and after a while of playing with the blade you become one with it Now I plan to spend the money to upgrade the blade. T-REX and Blade are two different heli niches. I see nothing wrong with maxxing out a Blade. In this hobby its not how much you spend its how much you get out of your efforts.

Hi you all,

A few months ago, I set about to build the best ccp I could. In the end, it turned out to be an excellent flying machine but no longer a bcp, though ispired by it. I am still flying it, but I haven't done any acrobatics with it. I have crashed it a few times and it has held remarkably well.

soem of the parts I threw in it were:

alluminum head and frame, CF blades, one way bearing gear, two 10 castle creations esc's, a 4100 hacker brushless motor, and a AON tail brushless motor, a deans antena, tail guard, and a farrat (SP?)ring, an electron reciever, 3 55 servos, which i ahve traded for 56's. It is a little beast. As far as performance, it is very good: Clim-outs and fast, great responsivness, and precition is right on target. Here's some pics

Not that simple

New Flyer, What you are saying just does not hold up as true. Its a Short sighted statement.

Why not say if you want to fix up your blade past its original cost then get a Raptor? If you are going to spend the money for a T-Rex then you will certainly get into Nitro and so why waste the money fixing up a T-REX. Is there another short sighted guy like you posting messages in the T-REX boards saying "don't waste your money on a little electric raptor, by the time you get it built you could have bought a big Raptor.

I'm soo tired of hearing buy a TREX, or buy a Raptor. All of these heli's are different. Yes, some better than others but different. Some people have BCP's TREX's & Raptors and like them all for their differences...

I'm contimplating starting a build on a new bird, and am not sure if I'm going Trex, Raptor or Swift 16. That should be an interesting topic. It's probably going to turn everyone on this forum against each other ! LOL

New Flyer 101,
