Hi

Well things have moved on.

All the rotor head is painted and mechanics installed, seats are done but I need belts, and I just need to finish a little bit of paint detail on the sticks.

Sliding doors are painted and glazed, plus all the decals are on. Its nearly altogether, just finishing some panels inside, almost finished on the centre console, just screw heads to go, then I'll start on the overhead panel tomorrow which is a lot smaller.

I hope to get it altogether and shoot some shots this weekend prior to its painted maiden flight.

Cheers

Awesome work Lee. Is your panel made using styrene sheet and shapes?

When you fly that baby, you need to be wearing one of those blue hats the Air Cav guys wore.

Cheers Guys

Larry, all styrene sheet and plastic rods of various shapes cut to length and shaped if needed.

Finishing the panel screw heads tomorrow and I'll prime it to see what it looks like.

Man, that's great work. I gotta know though, how did you get the gauges to look so real? And where did you get the stickers? Did you make them yourself? I hope whenever I can afford to do a scale (yeah right, kids in private school and a wife in grad school) I do half the job you are.

The IP is totally scratch built, dials are made by getting high res images each individual dial of the full scale panel I'm modelling. I then cut out each dial using photoshop and tidy it up making the black blacker, the whites white and any colours used more vivid so it stands out more.

Each dial is then resized down to fit inside each surround, printed on white decal paper, laquered and placed on. Once dry (Have yet to do this) I'll laquer the whole panel to set them in.

Hope this helps, the preparing of each dial in PS took the longest.

... and the prize should be a turbine to add scale noise and smells to the project

Can't wait to see the finished shots of this machine.

Ha ha

First one to offer a turbine project to make for them I'd gladly accept :-) (As long as I could keep it that is)

Tell me about it, soon I hope.

Weather is not too bad this weekend, still putting things together and should have some shots over the weekend some time.

I have a turbine project I would love to do, just gotta keep saving up !

We all WANT to see it completed!!!!!

If I had the money (and a yard to make the scale hangar it deserves) I'd pay you enough for that beauty to make 2 turbine projects. I'm sure someone will...

By the way...

I enjoy making models for Reflex XTR (see my gallery). Never did a scale one, and your's would be a great one to do.
If you ever want to "share it" with us so we all can imagine what you actually feel flying it, let me know.

Best regards.
