Update on PJ

Im very concerned about him. This post showed up the other day that he was not doing well....

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...20&postcount=86

"I don't know if anyone else has heard about PJ at IconMicroDesigns or not, but I was talking with a fellow that flies with PJ and found out that PJ collapsed at the field this weekend and was hospitalized. No current word yet about how he is doing, but as of yesterday morning he had not regained consciousness yet. let's hope he gets back up soon."

Thanks for sharing that with us Ecaf ,that is sad news I pray the Lord raise him up and recover. I can't say enough about him and how much I love his kit.

didn't expect to hear that but...

Just to let u guys out there know that i have been chasing for my money back for more than 2 months now! That was after more than 2 months of waiting.

After numerous emails, crb68 / pj / icon admitted that he is in financial problem. He says “I will refund your money as soon as I have the funds in the shop account. Right now that looks to be another couple of weeks as I take a few more orders”. Months have past since. He also accused me of threatening him.

Anyone who needs more detail of the subject or copy of the emails can pm me or email at spencerchew.msn.com

I would appreciate anyone who can give me advice on ways to get my money back.

I write this in hope that on one is suck into this hole (as I view it).

Received kit

I ordered my kit in mid-March and received it last week (7/7/06). Should have it finished soon.

Hi Arnie -

Thanks for the offer!

So far I've had one problem - not enough main shaft sticking out of the top! I'm using the Century pro shaft and auto rotate gear. Shaft was only sticking out from top of mast 0.67 inches (from retaining collar to the hole for the head retaining pin. I had to cut the autogear shaft insert part in half to get the shaft to stick out the same amount as the BCP. Looks like the fit would have been much better using the non-auto main gear. I also modded one side of the frame so I can take the gear out without having to disassemble the frame.

I've looked through your other posts for your configuration but was wondering what motor and pinion combo you picked? Did you use BCP gear and shaft or something else?

Thanks -

JB

JB, I think you were suppose to flip the bearing support so that it faced down with the collar going through the gear.

JB,
I don't understand why the shaft was too short unless you used the elite cp/fp shaft by mistake. The 3dpro shaft should work. I don't like hearing you had to shave the hub ,that would weaken it. I'm using the century brushless motor with 13T gear. I don't believe you can get that motor new anywhere. The 3d pro outrunner motor with 13T gear is available for $42 @ heli-world. Good job on the frame mod to get the gear out. I didn't have much success on the tail which I credit to me. Modding it to a Trex tail and boom shortening the boom to fit a 15" standard heli-max400 belt and able to use 255mm blades made this heli one of my favorites and the one I fly the most. Just go ahead with your kit as it is reading the instructions making sure you put the tail gear with the shoulder facing the tail blades.

I hope the people who are waiting to get their money back keep cool about it. I can't tell anybody what to do, but this guy is having problems, health or otherwise, and he's a good guy. He has been shipping kits, slowly but surely, and I'm sure he will refund anybody his money as soon as he can. If everybody starts disputing stuff through paypal or disputing charges, or getting irate, most likely everyone will lose out.

Again, it is obvious that people who got charged and don't have their kit have the right to be upset and seek means to get satisfaction. I just hope they work with PJ so he can get back up to speed, continue to support the kit and make spare parts for it.

When you get the kit, you will see that the $75 pricetag is a rediculous steal for what you get. In hindsight, PJ probably should have charged a lot more to both keep demand down and so unplanned expenses and hardware failures would have been easier to deal with.

My $0.02, as a guy who had to wait 14 weeks for his kit.

I'll hold on for awhile

I am usually pretty patient with vendors (probably too patient for my own good), I've had several dealings with vendors that took several months to finally resolve. I am willing to hold out longer if I know for sure he is going to recover and ship the rest of them out. I've been waiting about 4 months as it is and would really like to receive the frame. I've bought all new components (motor, ESC, Servos, Helidirect head. etc..) to build a whole aircraft but just lacking the frame. All the stuff isn't going to do me any good without a frame. I hope the best for him but would also like some assurance that we will have something to look forward too.

I agree with B Kidd, I'm willing to wait also, ordered two kit's back in the begining of Aprill and haven't flew me Blade since, have all the componet's brushless, gyro, rec. servos ect. I think he bit off more the he expected, and if they were mass produced the the quality would likely suffer. I hope he recovers and is able to complet his orders, maybe he needs a good apprentace, some one to help him in his venture, wonder if he could sublet some of the work out ? I know I would have paid more, but he set the price, just hope it all works out and he's ok. I too would like to recive my kit's, and I haven't buged him, just asked for an update from time to time.
Get well James, PJ !!!

Hi Arnie-

I am using the Pro shaft and auto main gear. Reversing the autorotate gear doesn't work - the tail belt gear cutout was to small to fit over it!

I didn't shave the hub - I cut the insert piece (that the main shaft engages with the little pin) in half...works fine and gave me an extra .25 inches of shaft out the top. Got to fly it this afternoon - needs some more trimming and tweaking but much more stable (and quiet) than the BCP!!

Himax 2015-3600 with a ten tooth pinion tached at 2620 rpm max (92% of max calculated head speed - very good as far as efficiency!)

Ran the Himax for about 8 minutes (2300 rpm head speed) though and it was very hot! 180 degrees! (Maybe due to 94 degree temp outside this afternoon!!??)

I got the tail set up with PJ's tail drive - ball joint on leading edge of tail blades. TRex plastic blade grips and slider. Seems to work ok.

Tail drive belt really loosened up during the flight. Hopefully its done stretching.

Hello JB,

Ok sounds great and now I understand your process better ,you did an excellent job and you have a lot of power so the wind today didn't bother you. I live on the North channel across from Harsens island and it gets windy ,but I have been able to fly my blade cp in it with this set up. I still need a esc for mine so it's on the shelf for the first time in a long while. I fly my trex or blade cx.

Keep up the excellent job,

Arnie

pj revealed that he is not financially stable after much "not nice" email exchange. he also threaten i will not get my refund if i post his predicament in the forum. he then promised a refund after more "suckers" places order with him. I send out this warning.

whether is this amount big or small is relative and irrelevant. Delaying time & again by giving false impression and reasons is unbecoming. I felt cheated. I gave him enough benefit of doubt for a long enough time.

Sorry to say this but … A man who prey on other people trust gain no respect from me … dead or alive.

Anyone needs proof of our correspondent can email or pm me.

Anyway proceed with caution.

I recived this 7/19/06

Hello Sir,

My name is Carl and I am PJ's son. I am answering his e-mails to let everyone know that Dad suffered a massive stroke and is still critical.

I cannot say if he will recover at this time but we are praying he will

Our concern is to see DAD recover but I am afraid that in today's world this whole thing will be looked at as Dad ripped people off and coming to their own conclusions. I cannot do anything about that but I am trying to gather up the parts Dad cut and complete as many kits as I can. Dad's records keeping is a mess and I am trying to find out who has what and how many.

We apologize for this inconvenience, and hope that you can understand our situation.

Carl

I hope he's going to be ok, I asked his son to plz keep us informed.
