Hello Everyone,
I just flew two packs in my belt drive and I still can't get over how stable this bird is with the stock three bearing head. I set mine up on Futaba 3107 servos, futaba ppm reciever and gy240 gyro on a TX6EXHP radio. I tried the bell-hiler head and wasn't happy ,but I'm sure it's me that is the problem ,I need to do my homework on setting the radio for the bell-hiler head. I flew that bell-hiler head on my stock honeybee with the stock radio so i know it works.

I added to my thread at RCgroups. Ran into 2 new issues today but nothing that I cant work thru.

Arnie,

What tail rotor GB are you using? Did you run into any issues with clearance when you built yours? Any suggestions that you can add here or over at RCgroups would be fantastic. Im still new at this and I very much appreciate any input that I can get.

Thanks....

Hi CRB68

Sounds like the kits are doing well, any forcast on when you'll be reopening for new orders? I'd like to get in line. I also sent an email through your website (from macamoose@hotmail.com.

Thanks for doing the work that some of us dream of but don't have the skills to complete. It looks like a great kit!

thanks,
Thad

TB,
The original tail case setup worked fine ,there's a shoulder on the belt pulley which faces the tail blades for correct assy. I'm using Trex XL tail rotors. I'm talking about the plastic tail case assy. I'm ordering another kit with the new cnc tail case assy which should be awesome. My case failed after too many tail strikes so I went to a Trex XL tail case assy. and yankeed it to work ,I'm pleased with the results.

Hello Spencer,

Please check your e-mail.

To all that are waiting. Check the website for regular updates. It is hectic here trying to get kits cut, parts ordered,..plus life getting in the way too frequently( married guys can understand)

Quite simply, demand has outstrippped my ability as a one man shop to supply as quickly as I would prefer. I apologize for the waits(sometimes a couple of months), but I am working as fast as time and my health allows. It seems I got way too carried away by my desire to make the conversions for too many machines at one time not thinking demand would run so high.

Hello Everyone,
Here are pictures of my belt drive blade cp with Trex boom (actually a walkera #36 but the same size as a Trex)and Trex tail parts. Using the 400 tooth xl belt you still have to cut 1/2 to 3/4" off the boom it works but it's too tail heavy so I went with a helimax mx400 standard belt 15", the belt that comes with the kit should work ,but I broke mine. Than I cut maybe another inch off the boom so it just fits my 255mm blades. PJ is making a flange to fit the boom and that will be sweet ,but for now I used a screw as you can see in the one picture. It flies sweet and is a whole lot of fun.

Well my Razor blade is all together.. I'm just having a heck of a time getting it off the ground. I've been playing with the pitch for a couple of days and I'm getting tired..

It will spool up then I did manage a couple of hops. I have the pitch at 0 to 12 set with a gage.

Rogersresort maybe you can give me some pointers or anybody else that put one of these together..

Thanks, Deves

Hello Deves,

Sorry to hear your having some trouble ,make sure your swash is setup right in your radio and level. Start out with a +50% ail ,A -50% ele. and a -60% pitch.

Hello Deves,

Try setting the pitch curve to make sure you have about 4.5 - 5 degrees pitch at your hover point(usually at half stick in Normal mode), 6 - 7 degrees at 3/4 stick and about 9-10 degrees at top stick. At 1/4 stick set it be 0 degrees and about -2 to -3 degrees at bottom stick. Set your throttle curve in normal mode to have about 50% throttle at half stick too and 75% and 100% on the upper end of the throttle curve.these are just starting point numbers and you final seetings may differ.

What motor are you using and how many teeth in the pinion? Recommend 9 or 10T pinion with a motor running 4200Kva(Himax 2015-4200)

These numbers should give you sparkling performance on a 1320 TP 3S.

How long running times you guys get on that new tail assembly. I only have the bell hiller swash and blade grips with a carbon tail and my blade flys rock solid. I never had a problem with holding the tail steady. Good luck to all Jimmi

Hello RCDaddy,

Joe

Yes sir. You can use the TR blades for the 3D Pro or the Trex or Shogun or the King or Cool. If you use the Trex or Shogun ones you might need to trim them shroter if you think you need the ground clearance.

Who are "these people" and what does this have to do with the tail belt drive? Are you emailing E-Flite regarding their crappy tail motor design? Or, are you talking about hearing from Icon? If you are talking about CRB68 (PJ at Icon) - send him a PM.

I ordered my tail kit on March 25, 2006. I sent CRB68 a PM on 6/18 at noontime and received a reply from him at 4 pm that same day! I asked about the status of my order. He told me
Quote
Your kit should be ready to ship in about a week......The belts went back order and they say it will (be) shipped middle of next week.

Also, it sounds like he has made some more mods to the kit - brought to our attention by some of the first kit builders and in Ecaf's build thread -

I have upgraded the frames now so that you will not have to take the frames apart to remove the main gear

As far as your "burnt out" tail motor - search this forum for a number of fixes - the crappy design by E-Flite on the tail motor is not CRB68's fault! Too bad all of us don't vent our frustration at E-Flite!

I tried the "diode" fix from this forum and dropped the tail voltage by 2 1/2 volts. I get an average of 40 flights on a tail motor (50H) running the direct drive mod and smaller prop. I'm also using 3 heatsinks on the tail motor! With the same configuration, I had one motor crap out half way through the first flight! Seems like they are not all built the same!

I can't wait to hear from people as they start flying the CP "Pro". Hopefully this issue will be gone!?????

You are correct all tail motors are not created equal, I just replaced mine after about 50 flights. Jimmi

Hey wo23Dodge

"

If you have been e-mailing me, then I do not know why they have not been received.

I am out a ways yet and expect to be totally caught up by Mid-July. If you are asking when I can take orders again, then that would be a limited number of orders by end of June.
