Yes, use the rubber grommets. Using a standard wood drill bit may tend to splinter the fiberglass and flake the finish. You would be better off to use a high speed cutting bit with a rotory tool.

Best Regards,

Don

There is always enough time and money to do it right the second time!

Drilling Hole for Gromets

If you use a drill bit in reverse to start you won't chip the paint.
Ask me how I know.

Tom beat me to it, run the drill bit in reverse when drilling into a fibreglass canopy.

Definitely use the rubber grommets and CA (super glue) them on the inside.

(yes, there's an echo in here......)

Had it hovering today and the tail was shaking again. Upon closer inspection the shaft from the clutch was sticking way up in the air. It broke loose from the clutch?? The derlin bushings look good and I don't see any excessive wear on the main gear. I thought my engine alignment was good also. I am not sure what caused this. I am assuming I need a new clutch. Any ideas.

Also I am still in the engine tuning phase. It has only run for a total of about 5 minutes. Needles were set at 1 1/4. I did have my throttle curve way high the first time it ran.

First go to 1/38ths on the needles, as far as the clutch shaft it will have to be replaced. What oil are you runnung and how much? Gary

They are set at 1 3/8. Gary I watched that setup video so many times that 1 1/4 is stuck in my mind. My needles are at 1 3/8 though. Also I am using Blue Marble. 6oz to a gallon I think.
