I definitely plan on being there! Dayton is only a two hour drive for me. The field looks so good that I might have to make a trip there this month.

Man oh man, that's a nice looking field. Are visitors welcome there at other times during the year? I have family in Dayton and would love a place to be able to fly over there once in a while.

What are those rectangular patches on the left side of the photo?
Is that where nuclear waste is dumped , or are the patches burial ground for guests that get out of hand ?

This field has some history... This field is where the second annual IRCHA Jamboree was held. This field was also where the '87 F3C Team Trials were held. Those were the days when Curtis and Gorham battled it out and then Curtis went on to win his first WC.

Wow Tim, you really go back with our field history. I remember being there at the 87 team selection. Not the most exiting to watch. Back them, the FAI guys selected the manuevers with the highest K factor to yeild the highest score. The top pilots ended up with lots of very hard hovering figures an no FF aerobatics.

As it stands, the Wingmasters are still providing the food for the Fun Fly. There will be no landing fee.
I am hoping to get it sanctioned soon.

George, the rectangular patches are were the city digged for the mud volleyball contest typically in July. The field's open space for flying is not shown on the picture but it extends close to 800'plus pass both ends of the runway and about 350' to 500' in front.

There should be plenty of room to divide into 5 to 6 flying stations.
So far I will mark a course for drag races, auto contest, and maybe a silly obstacle course including flying through a ring of fire. We will only light it up when is George's turn to fly through it.

I had a chance to fly at your club last Saturday and meet a few members who were very nice and let my fly my helis a while. The field is very nice and I envy your concrete runway! Thanks again for the hospitality!

Update

Due to recent inquiries, I will have an area set aside for any vendors to showcase their products. There will also be an IRCHA tent at the grounds.
Remember folks, this is a one day event this year, but from the responces I am getting it may be a whole weekend next year.
See you at the Jamboree

I used to watch those battles too back in the 80's when Belloumini and Powellson would come out to fly. Back then Bello was a hot pilot.

I can remember sitting in an RV watching a few fellows getting lit as well as a few tantrums being thrown because a tailrotor came apart.

Ahhh, those were the days.

Talking about the old gang, I am hoping to see Jerry Skinner, Wendell, and Mike Armocida. The Chapman's will be missed, although I hear that Danny was still in the area, but no longer involved in models. I cannot imagine Mark Wilson being there but who knows.

Yeah, those were the days, but we still have the opportunity to create new "ol days". Hope to see you there.

Update

The time is fast approaching. Some of the events in the works will include a tag team relay event. It will involve a combination of heli bottle knock over, hot dog eating, heli short drag race with auto, egg on spoon race, quick 3D trick (heli), and who knows what for ending.

All the heli portions will always end with the heli on the ground and engine off in order to tag the next teammate.

So bring or form your "Dream Team" when you get here; it will surely going to be the funniest event ever attempted this year.

Also, If there is enough interest we will have T-Rex race(s) like the ones conducted at IRCHA.

Just give the chair a proper burial. I am going to miss it. She was like an ol' friendly shoe, or an OJ Simson glove... LOL

Bring your T-Rex(s) if you have one!
