Real simple question...

Would an improper headspeed/pitch ratio cause any adverse effects on the tail? If so, should pitch and throttle curves be set the same to eyeball a proper ratio between engine rpm and pitch?

yes they should, a high headspeed can cause the tail to wag and not hold.

I agree high headspeed and wrong curves sometimes means that your motor ain't happy. Will cause tail vibration and wag as well as motor may be runnin a little warm....
