e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > How do you add TP Balancing leads to older packs without them

I've tried the search function and am not finding exactly what I want to know. I have the TP205 ballancing box. I also have some older TP 5s3p 6AH packs that don't yet have balancing leads (tp be used in an Ion-X). My question is, how can I (or can I?) add the TP 6 pin balancing leads to these older packs. I'm looking for a step by step type procedure if it exists, or guidance on what I should do if it doesn't? Is this something Thunder Power will do? Or might they take them in as trade on their newer Prolite Parallel packs. I really don't want to take any chances on packs this expensive. Any thoughts or tips will be much appreciated!

I asked them in person about doing just that to some older 3s2100 packs I had. They told me that those packs used a slightly different formula than the new ones, and would benefit very little from upgrading to the balancing connectors. The new ones have them because the newer, higher performance formulas require balancing to maintain that performance.

Call them. They may give you a deal on swapping old for new.

Thanks for the quick feedback. What do you think, do these older packs need to be balanced if they are so tame?

Like I said above, not according to them.

So basically just be sure to fly them within their stated limits, and trust that they will live their full intended life? I bought these used with ~40 flights on them. Any guess as to how long they might live?

Not sure how long they live. I use mine as rx batteries in a nitro R50, low consumption, so I'm still less than 20 charges on them.

"Pre balancer lead" version of TP2100 3S, 22 flights on a T-REX, charged at 2.1 amps on an ASTRO charger, just like I always have. At charging, pack was coming to capacity, then all of a sudden, swelled, popped, smoked, ignited. All happened within 2 or 3 minutes from swell to what it looks like now.
