| Today I actually had a good flying (hovering around) session with the Corona down at a local field. I have the tail wag down to just a slight hunt, so maybe a slight reduction in gain will nail it. I got a whole battery pack of air time without crashing....I've only been at the heli thing since December and most experience has been indoors with XRB and Blade CP and SIM.
Although I did have a comical scene when a very slight breeze up around 15 to 20 feet made the Corona turn 90 degrees right. I tried to stay with it and turn the tail toward me, but instead I wound up doing accidental FF for about 25 yards. I was trying to make a slow level turn back out into the open field ahead of me, but my brother in law's Aluminum Trex suitcase was right in the Corona's cross hairs. It was directly behind me and I didn't see it. Boom ! The big plastic rotors gobbled the handle right off the suitcase and kept on going with no damage to the Heli. I landed it a few feet away. Thank goodness I have been practicing with RFG3 or I probably would have packed it into the ground when the breeze got it.
Before today I only had minor success trying to get it into the air, but now feel a whole lot better about the bird.
Thank you for all the tips and pointers !!
