e-Robbe Eolo > Futaba 3150's and 6V

I have read several reports of people using Futaba 3150's on a regulated 6V's even though the instructions say they shouldn't. Who is using this set-up? I know the advantage would be great torque and faster travel. What are the experinces of those using this set-up? Any servo failures? If so how quickly did they occur?

Also has anyone using the Robbe lightned paddles noticed pitch up in FFF? If so how did you correct this?

Finally here in the USA Robbe Eolo parts are hard to come by is this the same in other parts of the world?

Thanks,

John

Parts can be easily get from ercmarket, I receive them faster that when I used to order form the USA.

My opinion is that futaba don't spec their 3150 at 6V because a fully charged 6V flight pack is somewhere near 7.5V and that could damage the servo. Regulated 6V is another story... IMHO

Sounds like rationalization to me, to say it is because they are worried about 7.5 volts that they don't rate it for 6.

How long have you been using them at 6 volts?

I'm using it, but now I'm doubting if I had a servo failure or dumbthumbs. I guess the second option since the servo's still worked and I did a low stallturn.

Limit S3150 to 5.8 volts regulated

I wrote futaba support, and asked about regulated 6 versus batts, on the s3150, and got this answer.

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

You would have to use a regulator and not go over 5.8 volts.

Yes, I see that ServoCity has these servos rated up to 5.8 volts as well.

Whats an extra .2 volts gonna do to it that 5.8 isnt going to do alreay?

Is anyone else using these servos at 6.0v regulated?

To the best of my knoweldge, they dont make a 5.8v UBEC or a variable UBEC. Maybe they do, any suggestions?
