Please help me choose engine by answering these few questions

Is it worth paying extra for a 50 hyper?
Has it got a major amount of more power than a standard OS 50 sx?
Is the Power worth having in a raptor 50 and will i really notice it?
Is it very thirsty and what nitro % for learning 3d with it?

Yea kinda.

The Hyper will definitely run cooler than the standard "H" engine, and I guess that somewhat relates to more HP.

The engine is kinda thirsty with a muffler, if you run a tuned exhaust, it gets better in power and in run time.

Overall, a lot of people are running the hyper in 50's.

I run 30% as do most, but you can get pretty good power with 15.

i have a raptor 30 at the moment and have a os37 which i run 20% in it but i have run 15% and will be going back to 15% as it burns out plugs Quicker now and costs £4 more a bottle. The extra power is not noticable really

OS 50 Hyper is better, because it runs cooler with its hyper head and secondly just got the looks that is worth for its price.
That's all I can think of.

Is 50 hyper worth it?

Androski, Hi.
I have converted all my 4, 50's to hypers.
First they run smoother and the head and carb are bigger and different than the stock 50 and were designed that way to produce more power especially if you use the hatori Jason Krause muffler as it needs the larger volume to produce all it's power potential, (larger in length and diameter than normal older 50 mufflers) or the Curtis MP2 on it. If you use a smaller muffler it will work but not to it's full power potential and that's why I think some miss the difference in the motors they run, it needs the bigger muffler to see
the difference in power!!
You could even leave the stock 30 gearing in your raptor and it will be fine as the motor will run at a higher rpm than with the 50 gearing so the head speed can be lower and still have plenty of punch. I have one set up that way I stretched into a 50 but left the 30 gearing intact in it to see for myself.
Yes it can be run on 15% and will make more power than the standard on 15% but will be way better on 30% as heli motors now a days are designed for compression for 30% fuel use and are easier to tune and the needles are less critical and not as sensitive to tune using 30% and I believe the hyper gets better fuel economy than the standard 50 and many of my flying buddies seem to think so too!It will pull more pitch and eventually you will want as much of the power as you can get out of your motor as your 3Ding gets better, that's why there is 90's next to go to!!
Hope this help your decision out!

I got the hyper, yes it is good.
I flew today with it , 3rd & 4th tank on it.
It has more power than the standard shx set richer than 3 foot up a bulls a$$.
I am pleased that I got it.
I am also glad I didnt go with another 50shx ring standard.
Its great. I think the carb works better , and bling head easy on the eye.
cant go wrong with the hyper 50.

The hyper head allows the engine to run cooler and therefore you can lean the mixture out a little to get more power...
The larger carb provides a good mix for better power and asside thoes two differences, the rest is pretty much the same as the standard 50...
You can even convert a standard 50 to a hyper with these changes...

So basically the hypers an upgraded version of the regular 50 with more power and a much thirstier run
