e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > just go my plastic CP blades today!!!!

So I am new to helis. On a whim I got the CX 2 weeks ago. Running 4-6 Li-Po's a day (somewhat OCD my girlfried jokes), I got bored quickly. I picked up the CP last week and as a newbie have had my share of mishaps.

I have read about the plastc blades and like most was intrigued. I have to admit, I am somewhat of a pesimist. I wasn't worried so much about the performace but moreso that they would actually be shipped. On Sat. night I ordered a pair an they came today. I tried a flight outside but it was too windy so I played for a pack in the house.

First impressions were that they tracked perfectly. I put on some tape and expected to make adjustments but didn't have to. They are a little heavier than the stock (I also have the training gear) but nice for a newbie. Kinda like a mild valium for the CP. Not that it is a problem but it just seemed to settle things down in hover. It was actually quite nice.

I have some Li-Po's comming later this week and I expect the increased head speed will make it better with the upgrade motor.

Sorry that I can't talk more about performance but I only flew one pack. Truth is I smacked them once and they survived-that is proof enough for me.

I would recommend these to anyone that wants to try something new without the worries of trashing blades. It doesn't matter if you want to learn to hover, forward flights or circuits around the trees in your front yard. Theses things pull the $15 fear of replacement (balsa) blades out of the equation and let you concentrate on your goals.

No, I don't have any affiliation with the guy that makes these...check I'm in detroit. I will reccomend these to the 3 LHS in the area to have on stock (perhaps I can get a free pair out of the deal so that my girlfriend can learn).

Honestly, I have to give a HUGE congrats to JCS hobbies for actually having the balls to realize there could be a better alternative and the dedication to move forward with it. Being in sales I am actully surprised they don't cost more. If they last as long as they say, you coulds sell them for $30+. I truly hopes this guy makes money and enjoys the $22 ($17+ SH) I sent.

Thanks, In one night I have already broke even! No regrets!

just watch those hard landings. the heavier blade increases the potential for blade-boom strike. speeking from experience

They are available at www.jcshobbies.com

I am working on the search engine thing.

type - plastic blades for Blade CP (in google search)

And you will get links to my site.

Sincerely,

John Sparks

PS The pricing I decided on was so that everyone could afford them. I hate price gouging in the RC industry (i have 18+ years experience in RC) so I am making it a point to NEVER do that to my customers.

Plastic Blades

I also got my plastic blades, I have one flight with just getting my ship set up, then I don't know what happened but the plastic blades can cut your tail boom clean off in flight. Blades sustained mininmal damage but it was the worst crash to date for me. With the heavier blades is tail bumping going to be a problem of the future?

Crackerjack,

Are you saying that the blades cut your tail boom in half? It was not clear in your post. In case you are asking if this possible, I will tell you that I have flight tested them for 5 months and have hit the tail boom numerous times. Every time I never had an issue with anything breaking. If you look at the picture on my site on the images page, you will see that the right hand blade as you look at the picture has a dent in the leading edge. That was from a tailboom strike in a severe crash. I did not damage the blades more than that and the tail boom never even had a scuff on it.

In my testing I can say with confidence that the tail boom should never be severed from a blade to boom strike. Not that it is not possible, but I have never had it happen and I have crashed the ever living life out of my blade CP. Almost to the point that I think it is probably the most punished Blade CP in existance.

If you have ANY questions please do not hesitate to email me at:

custserv@jcshobbies.com

I will be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Sincerely,

John Sparks

new blades

I can't say how they fly yet,Crashed right after ordering them, but the service was the best. I ordered them on Thursday and they were in the mail box Saturday. If they help me learn to fly, with having to go through 3 sets of wooden blades a week, they will be a Godsend. thanks and good luck with new venture.

Whirlybird1,

One customer I had said the blades pair for themselves 3 times over in the first day, so I think you are good to go there. One thing I learned the hard way it to not push your skills farther than your comfort level. I do not know how long you have been flying, but moving forward in steps is the best way I have found to get up in the air quicker. Tail in hover, nose in hover, slow forward flight and so forth. Not going to the next step until you are bored with the previous one.

Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

Sincerely,

John Sparks

i just put my new plastic blades on my nice flying honeybee cp2 and after putting them on the heli wouldnt lift. i notice if i gave some cyclic then it would jump in the air? it flew fine before, with the wooden blades? i put my stock wood blades back on and it still wasent flying right?? whats wrong you ask? i finally figured out that my collective was STICKING!!!! i know i know, i should of checked this but it flew so nice right out of the box and for about 3 weeks until now. i guess the added mass of the plastic blades put more load on the grip bearings causing them to bind against the incorrectly installed washers!! i took the head apart and repositioned them in the correct order and the bird flys great!!! just thought i would share my stupidity with eveeryonelet this be a lesson...EVERYONE SHOULD CHECK FOR STICKY COLLECTIVE!!!!

PLASTI-BLADES

got my today i must admit shipping was very fast so i have the hb cp2 and have it pretty much dialed in with the woods

i opened the plastis and found they are a FLAT BOTTOM BLADE i didnt know this when i purchased them but i could have missed that fact

i flew 3 times today and have to say i like em they add a nice stability to and otherwise twitchy honeybee (a word to you bell hiller heads) when you install the bell hiller your gonna get what you asked for its very very touchy and its taken about 2 weeks for me just to get it in a stable consistant hover the flat blades helped alot i was a smoother fly then the woods they also balanced well i didnt add any tape

however they are very sharp on the trailing edge almost like a knife blade i set down hard today and they got dented on the leading edge they are NOT a hard plastic infact they flex more then the wood blades
i have never had a boom strike with my woods that changed today with the plastics it hit the ground a lil hard and the blade whipped right into the boom i dented tthe blade in a few places but i wouldent doubt that they could cut a boom in 1/2 they are very sharp and spinning at top speed will cut you badly im sure of this

so: plastics are good durability ahhh... well see,, ease of setup worth the price i dont care much for balancing wood blades but if you want to go 3d or aerobatic youll need ya woodies.

they do make a more stable platform for a bell hiller bird

hey i got the aluminum head for my cx today took it for a fly gosh i love that lil heli so much fun after bangin my head around with the hb
and the alum head is nice so far

Just got mine also and from the added weight of plastic blades and landing gear kit seems to be a very stable heli in a hover(in my opinion)....could only hover cause its windy as heck here today. Im using the aek with 1320 lipos so this added the weight on but I think calms down the heli for beginers like myself hovering and flying around without the rolls and flips and inverted stuff that I want to learn with time.

Plastic Blades

Just received my Plastic blades from jcshobbbies.com and I'm very pleased. To cold to go out side so did some hoving in basement. Very stable. Only one half turn on link and was tracking perfect. Can't wait to get these outside for some ff flight. I think I've ordered my last pair of blades. Lets hope he comes out with some plastic sym. blades soon.

I ordered two sets of the plastiblades. One set for me and the other for a co-worker. I got them and took them in to work so we could install them. He got his all installed. I forgot that I needed to swap out my tail motor. Anyway. He had wrecked the chasis on his bladeCP and had to build up another chasis. When he did, he plugged the servos into the wrong areas and was getting negative pitch when he powered up. So, in his infinite wisdom, he holds the tailboom and powers up. Hehehe, the new plastiblades are a little like a rotating ginsu knife set. I now call him knuckles!! lol. Nothing serious. We're aircraft mechanics so we always get nics and cuts.

anyway, he's "flying" now and I'm moving into ff with banked turns. I like the blades. He's put a dent in one leading edge and cracked one trailing edge. I'm not sure how he did the trailing edge, but he's been a little hard on the little bugger.

as for having a well crashed bladeCP? I'm on my third chasis. I had a tail boom spin on me while I was about 40 feet up, outside. It looped backwards and went rotor first into the dirt. Split the chasis, motor hanging from wires... weeee... that was about 5 minutes after the t-rex flipped out and hit the dirt. Was a hard afternoon on helis.

Got my plastic blades today from JCS Hobbies in Chico, Ca. They work really really well. Smooth as silk, track perfectly and I really think in my mind that it gives me more confidence in flying the Blade now that it has better blades, (I used up alot of wood blades) I can't wait for John to start making symetrical plastic blades. Its only a matter of time for those blades. I think they are a must for the Blade and the Honeybee. The Spudman

I've had mine for a little over a week now and they have already paid for themselves SEVERAL times over. My LHS is also carrying them now although they are so tough I may not need another set for quite some time. Good job JCSHobbies, Bravo.

Plastic blades

Well the plastic blades bit the dust today after my first crash into the ground. Think I hit a rock or something. It put a gash in the lead edge. I might try and heat them up to smooth it out. But after putting the woodies back on and relizing how much power I was loosing with the added weight I might stay with the woods. I did only bust one blade grip and lost one linkage, bent shaft.
