helifever,
Spartan RC (partly owned by me) will release a new carbon mount with retracts specifically for electric helicopters. The weight is much lower than any comparable mount on the market making it very efficient for use on electrics. Also we are really pushing hard to get the weight of Joker 2 + mount + moderate camera under 7Kg for unregulated flight in UK. I will post photos as soon as the prototype is ready. Various bits are currently in production. To give a brief idea... 3 axis gimbal, gyro stabilised, 360deg pan and of course retractable skids.

Brand new mount concept

Currently working on my new mount concept. It has never even been mentioned being done on here. In my opinion every design I have seen so far has some fundamental design flaws. If mine works like I think I will consider showing it. I could be building a dogged mount also. If a provisional patent is feasible for it im going to write that before I show it.

We are building a front mount system for the Maxi Joker 2.
Gerd from Minicopter has developed special new lower frames and other mods specially to support our CF30 mount. The mod is now on his stock with part number. The mount can be also adapted to other helicopters.

The Maxi Joker+CF30 mount is still under tests on Maxis in Europe and America not released officially yet.

Any idea on the price yet?
Also is the pan and tilt also gyro stabilized?

Looks alot like the one you have been using so I imagine the R&D has been pretty through on this one huh?

surely you must have a ballpark figure?

FWIW, the mount looks very promising, but there is one major fundamental design flaw. I'd be willing to discuss a solution privately. This is an area that "ALL" of the other mount manufacturers have fallen short.

Jason,

Yes pan, tilt and roll axis can be gyrostabilized.
It is basically the same design we had for our other coptercams.
But now I have improved lot of details and fundamentally digitized all the construction in order to produce it in numbers. It was almost a year of CAD work, prototyping and finding the right providers for CNC laser cut, CNC routing for the delrin, materials, vaccum molding, parts and other 18 different providers between machining services and raw material. Also getting the request for patenting took pretty lot of time.
There is not a single part that can be gotten in a hardware store (well..ball bearings, bolts and nuts ) everything was designed for its specific use.
The two mounts are basically the same the only difference is the internal diameter and camera weight in order to hold two different type of camera families.

Tabb,
Thank you! i hope you dont have nightmares!!!

Anthony,
I prefer not to approximate a figure yet, im not making misteries about it, it is part of the agreement i have with the distributor, i hope you can understand me. I'll make it public asap.

You can talk freely about design flaws, nothing is perfect

Victor has worked at this mount for a very longggggggg time to perfect it. Even the skids were customized for the Maxi.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, Victor, 15 days at LAX baby! Yet, make it 10 days or less

Forgot to add, the main value of this mount is......you fly the helicopter and not the mount. Another way to look at it is, you fly the camera. If some of you haven't flown a front mounted helicopter yet, you will see that flying while shooting will be much more natural. You simply 'fly the camera'.

Edit....

It's exciting too see so many new design on the market. A lot of them look really professional. I hope to see some more of Rotorkraft in the near future. Here is one from Isensys. It's based on a Mikado Logo.
