I'm having a little difficulty setting up the EMS on the Caliber 30 ARF. Is there any better description or site I could visit to help properly set up the EMS? Thanks for any suggestions.

Caliber 30 problems

Thanks guys. The problem I am having is the swashplate. Using the Futaba 9CH. With sticks at mid, all 3 servos are at 90 degrees, however, the swash seems to tilt back at low collective and forward at high collective as well as leaning left cyclic. I have to have the trims way off center to level the swash. I've tried the subtrims. This is my first CCPM and I really have no idea where to look next. Is it me or is the manual a little short on the instructions. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Strange.
All links are "pre-built" and cant be adjusted - are you sure all servo horns are 90?
And that the bellcranks are mounted like wisely.
Have you flown your Caliber - I mean if it just looks like it tilts back - or if it affect your flying also.
How is your swash setup in the radio? 60, 60, -60?

yeah, all the links being pre-made bothers me. I'll look at the chopper more closely tonight. I think the AFR is set 60 60 -40. I think. As for the bell-cranks, if the servos are 90 and the links are pre-made the cranks should be 90, right? I've flown the chopper a bit, but the trims have to be so far off that I don't like it. If you don't mind check back here later tonight or whenever. I appreciate you taking the time to help me.

May be a long shot but have you got the ball links in the right holes in all three bellcranks otherwise the throws will be uneven?

No problemos.
Have you checked CG on it? That might cause it to drift forward or backwards.
And as walnut said, are all links connected to the right holes?

First make sure that you are using the correct positions on the bell cranks.

Secondly make sure you are using exactly the same length servo arms.

Third, make sure that nothing is loose in the control mechanism and there is no up down play in the main shaft.

Forth, take a look in your heli radio, set everything to mid stick remove all sub trims and pitch trims, go into the servo menu (end of the basic) menu and make sure channels 1,2, and 6 are dead center.

Fifth, make sure that the servo arms are exactly 90 degrees, and I mean exactly, I used a long stick accross the two servos to ensure they were perfect. If they are not, play with different servo arms until they are perfect or very close and then use the sub trim function to ensure that *exactly* 90 degrees.

Sixth, maybe you want to check this earlier in the list, but just came to me, make sure the servo end points for channels 1, 2 and 6 are set up 100% travel in both directions.

If that doesn't solve it post another message I will try to think of some other things to check.

Seven, my brain is working quick tonight!! Are you sure that you are using the correct linkage rod for the pitch servo (the middle one) as the throttle linkage and pitch are very similar in length. A quick way to check is to ensure that at mid stick all three bell cranks are the at 90 degrees.

Best wishes,
Steve.

I also made this mistake. The elevator ball on the bell crank is in the wrong hole. It needs to be in the lower hole.

Thanks guys. You helped me walk through it. d n Jensen hit the nail on the head. The elevator ball was on the top hole throwing the swash off. just one of those things you don't see until you get a couple opinions from others that help you out. Thanks to all you guys for posting to this topic. I wish you all the best. Fly on.
