Hi! Today a friend of mine flew his Fury 60 Expert for the first time. I did have the opportunity to try it and I think itīs a great helicopter. I did however found a weird thing going on. If you turn left on cyclic the helicopter not only goes to the left but also DOWN!!! If you turn to the right it will go to the right with no tendencies. Any clues?
Itīs our first time with CCPM and I think the problem is around this. My friend flies with a JR XP8103 and 8101 servos. By the way, the settings for this TX are supposed to be on 60% (for ELEV, AIL AND PITCH). Do all three number have to match? The only way we could have a -10 , 10 pitch setting was by increasing the PITCH number from 60 to 75.

Thanks. Juan Carlos

Swashplate values

If you are talking about the 3 swashplate value settings, they do not have to be the same. There is one for aileron, one for elevator and one for pitch. I fly a Futaba 9Z and these values are in the swashplate menu. These are the figures that you change to raise or lower they amount of throw for the corresponding functions. You do not use the traditional ATV settings, because each control is done by mixing all three servos, so no particular servos ATV will raise or lower that function properly. In the swashplate menu, these values alter the throw of all three, two or one servo, depending on the function being increased, or decreased.
If you need more pitch range, then raise the pitch percentage. Less aileron, then lower the aileron percentage, and so on.
My values are 60, 65, and 55.

Hope that helps,
Kevan

All the same

You should set up the heli initially with the values all the same, but if you need/want more, or less, cyclic or pitch, you must use these values to change them correctly.

No you do not have to have the 3 "SWAHSPLATE" numbers the same in the 8103. You do have to have the ATV's for all 3 identical and at 100%. The swashplate numbers effect what they are labled. You can increase pitch without effecting the elevator or aelerons. You can make the elevator pull more (of less) than the aelerons etc. I do think it is not good to have more than 5 +=>< or so points between any of the three..

If you are noting peculiarities in flight, go back and recheck that there is NO subtrim or non-100% ATV hiding anywhere in the radio. Then go back and double confirm that the servo arms are set at exactly ninety degrees to the long axis of the servo case as per the instructions. If there is a swashplate interaction present, you should be able to see it on the ground if you duplicate the approximate collective setting and then input the cyclic command that produces curious flight trim. Note that poor flybar paddles alignment can produce pitching tendencies at full collective settings (been there, seen that, fixed that).

The 60% on pitch can and will vary. I had to go above that number on my model to achieve the appropriate collective range with my contest set-up. There were no perceptable adverse effects in doing so. Obviously, you can't go too high on the pitch percentage or you won't have any servo travel leftover for cyclic inputs. Conversely, if the pitch value is too far compressed, servo travel will be blunted to the point that you will never appreciate the benefits of good servos in the model.
