I wouldn't suggest anything made by Walkera or Venom (Rebranded walkera)

I think if you do a search you will see many people are not having much luck getting a stock walkera to fly.

if you are a newbie, it will only make things harder to learn.

I would suggest a T-Rex, the VE is a nice chopper but costs a little more to fly then a T-Rex, and support for the Rex is very good.

But if you want a Voyager, I see them for sale from time to time and this would be the best ay to purchase one.

You would get most of the upgrades like Brushles and lipo and that goes a long way on the VE.

Taz,

V-E is a good first heli. She is stable and flies in the wind.

The Delron intermediate gear is urgently required.

Also have extra spindle shafts, which are the mechanical fuses for blade strikes. You may also need servo gear sets - these may also be mechanical fuses, depending on your choice of servos.

In any event, you can get excellent parts delivery from several places. Pick the one closest to you that has parts - or Horizon Hobby is pretty quick.

Once you can fly FF without advancing your heart rate, you can either upgrade your V-E for aerobatics to the QJ-15 head from Harold, or go to another heli - or both, as I did.

Taz,

I forgot to say the stock V-E motor-ESC is good for a few minutes using EIGHT cell NiCad packs (not 7). Yes, you need to break in the brushes, and, yes, you need to change brushes every 12 flights or so.

If you intend to stay with this heli, upgrading to the QJ-15 head from Harold when you are ready for aerobatics, which the stock V-E does not do, then you will eventuallty want the Hacker C40-8L motor and Jazz 48-6-18 ESC which is worth 4.5 minutes then land using 10 cell NiCAD 1700 cells, or much longer flight using 3S2P or -3P or -4P LiPo packs.

The NiCAD packs are just $50 each.

She is a nice first heli, I have no regrets about her - and I still fly her, upgraded, even though I have a Logo 14 carbon for serious aerobatics.

Harold is www.helicopterhobbies.com

If you buy this upgrade, you will need to look at pictures on his web site to put it together correctly. He will help you via phone, but a bit of heli building experience is most helpful..

This plus the 420 carbon blades from MS Composit are the route to Voyager aerobatics capability..

Thanks,

I personally would see how one of these upgraded babies fly before plunkering more cash on thi heli. Does anyone have a video of the Voyager with these upgrades?
