A few of us are talking about starting a AMA heli only club!!

Looking for insight, incouragement, help, members to sign up, ect, ect.

We need atleast 15 "members" to charter a club with AMA and more is better.

There are several of us that get together regularly all around the Austin area (Leander, Marble Falls, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Waco, Temple, Georgetown and Taylor)and fly at differnt fields in the area. I know finding a "central fits all needs" field is just dreaming but bringing together the pilots to form a club can be a reality.

Membership dues would be just enough to cover AMA charter fees and news letter. Im thinking like $15 a year sounds right but well see what ya'll think.

Let me know what ya'll think, all input welcome.

Mike, sounds good man. I think this would be a good idea since there is not a real heli only club around that I personally know of..... and locally at that.

Like we talked about the other day, I will keep looking for some possible locations that may be able to support helis. I will keep you posted.

Count me in as well!!!!

Hey Mike,

Just a suggestion

Why don't you see about having a meeting with all the locals that are interested in forming a club to discuss this more in detail.

Has a field been secured?

As far the meeting, I would like to suggest "Kokamo's" Liberty Hill Field.
Since this is a "heli"club meeting...we might wanna go where there's sure to be no Fixed-Wing traffic

Just a suggestion...

I'd like to join, as I sure could use some help with my Heli and would like to hang out with heli pilots. I hope that it doesn't turn out like most things in Austin and end up wayyyyy north. Please keep me posted!

Georegtown is planning on having a funfly in June I think. KennyS and Jperch are going to be incharge of it this year and as far as I know the exact date hasnt been set just looking at June.
