Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Avant ordering question

I have my credit card in my hand ready to roll! I am going to build an Avant EFX. What items do I need to purchase from Carbon Extreme? I plan on buying my EVO 90 tomorrow along with the other Hirobo parts I need.

I thought I read where some guys are buying extra 26mm spacers to mount up the header tanks on the carbon frame. Is this right?

What gear ratio should I order for the OS SZH 91 engine?

Is there anything else I need to order from Carbon extreme to get the heli ready to fly it?

CX:

You need the EFX kit and maybe CX damper set if you want to run their set up for that.

EVO 90 comes with 8.45 ratio.

Talking with CX flyers at Vegas fun fly, 8.08 seems to be the choice gear ratio.

These are hirobo parts. 97 tooth main gear. 12 tooth pinion and clutch bell(comes packaged together as a unit). For some reason they do not sell the EVO pinions separate from the bell.

You will also need a muffler, Main blades and tail blades.

Do you need to buy the fan shroud aswell on this conversion ?

Don't carbon extreme have a list of what to buy on there site ? did I see that on there before

i think there is a list certainly used to be, from memory you need a fan shroud bracket and carbon X do a carbon version, a fan shroud, i also ordered a delrin counter gear and what ever main and pinion you want for the engine of your choice. You may also want to consider the eagle 3 auto unit or a metal case upgrade for the auto unit as I read some of the evo ones have cracked.
good luck with it I haven't started mine as i'm still waiting on some parts but it looks like it'll be very sweet

The parts I used for my FX were, 12T pinion 0414-211 (I think it's a different pinion on the EVO 90), 97T main gear 0404-057, 17T delrin counter gear 0414-169, fan shroud 0404-044 and screws for the shroud are 2535-003. The small bracket for the shroud comes in carbon in the kit now.

Carbon extreme does have a list of items needed to get it together, but I wanted the part numbers for anything I might need to finish the build off and make it ready to fly, like the header tank mount I asked about.

The info about the delrin counter gear and the 97t main and 12t pinion/clutch bell for an 8.08 ratio is also very useful. Anything else?

I just started my Avant build tonight....I asked Pete Niotis about the 17t counter gear and he told me that he is using the stock gears and ratio on the tail.

pete is running the stock ratio with a delrin gear
the stock counter gear would be black nylon!

My bad!!!!.....lol....does the black nylon not last very long?
And Pete,Vance is already happy...this thing is going together flawless!The parts fit so far is equal to that of MA.I have to stop by the LHS tomorrow and pick up my 97t main gear and fan shroud.
I worked on it for about 2 hours tonight and was very surprised at how far i got...i had to skip a step because of the main gear but everything is flowing right along.I didnt receive intructions for the head but i have an expoded view of the head,so,it shouldnt be very hard to figure out.

I tried the black nylon counter gear for about a month it let loose in the middle of a piro flip at about 30 ft brought the machine home with out a scratch. that time but with diffrent circumstances i might not of been so lucky .
its just cheap piece of mind

Is there a list of parts you need form Hirobo kit to put Avant together?
I'm thinking of getting one along with the new programable head,so there's not that much left to justify buying whole kit and then trying to sell what's leftover

Well, I completed the order late Sunday (2-26) night on CX's website. We'll see how long it takes to get it to me. By the way I am less than an hours drive to CX.

I have everything else I need to complete the build, with the exception of the 17 tooth delrin counter gear.

I'm interested in this tail counter gear question. Mine seems fine. I just checked! I have the stock black one from he EVO kit. How are they failing? Stripping in flight? The Avant supports the gear sets very well, I have hard time to believe it strips easily. Maybe someone could elaborate on the problem?
