Looks like it weighs a tiny bit over a pound! 16.9 oz. The head could be lightened as it appears... seems light in construction where it needs strength - like the G-10 (as it appears) for the main frame...

Well, that is interesting. The Cool has a 630mm rotor head diameter, making it a smidge bigger, but is 20g or so lighter. Does the head use bell hiller mixing? They don't show the swash paddle frame, so I can't tell if it has linkages coming off it or not.

Doesn't appear to be Bell-Hiller. The flybar being under the main confuses the linkage a little, but the upper conversion is an upside-down version of the Blade CP, Hummingbird - etc....

Ever thought about flybarless? All it would take is a bit of redesign of the SP linkages and stronger servos...

And my handle is NOT 'cornhole'! Something you may desire, but leave me out of it!

I believe I'm wrong about the Bell-Hiller mixing on this heli. Aren't there mixing bell cranks and links to the main disc that can be seen in the third photo down?

Wow, what a great looking kit. I really like the idea of a belt drive for my CP, the tail motor just sucks!!! I almost ordered one until I started thinking about it a little!?!? At first I thought the price of the kit was great…well I guess it still is the only problem I have is the final cost. Here’s a break down of the cost as I see it…that is assuming you can use the 4 in 1 to control your tail servo!?!? If not the price goes up even more, new receiver, new speed control…


Kit Shipped: $70.00
Tail Servo: $25.00
GY240 Gyro $117.00
Main Shaft $6.96
Main Gear $17.00
Trex tail rotor set $8.95
Trex Slider $7.95
3D Pro Skid Set $6.95
Total $260.00

Take out the gyro and it’s still a $143.00 belt drive upgrade. I don’t think tail blades were listed either, another $4.00.

All said and done…a little pricey if you ask me

But DAMN SWEET none the less!!!!!!!

No doubt, this isn't for the budget minded. I really seemed like a deal to me, since I have a GY-401 that is currently unused and several spare servos lying around from foamy projects, and I've kind of become obsessed with seeing how far I can take this little micro.

This is very much like the CNC head, only it probably has a higher bang to buck factor. If all you see in your CP/CP2 is a $200 budget heli, it seems crazy. But it is still nice showing up to the indoor flies and having people ooh and ah and try to figure out exactly what my Honeybee is, and then be absolutely gobsmacked at how long it manages to fly.

Once this upgrade is complete, it won't even be fair to call it a honeybee anymore. I think I'll start calling it the Moneybee.

Well, buying parts and just putting someone elses work together would not impress me - no oohs or ahs from here. Showing up at an 'indoor fly' with that intention is not really what this hobby is all about anyhow. The Blade CP and Honeybee are basic pre-engineered flying mechanisms that are sold as such. You could not fool too many people...

Buy your custom parts and totally build a helicopter with another concept in mind such as this belt drive tail rotor or even a shaft driven one. Try changing the rotor head so that the blades are on top of the system and the flybar below - or come up with a flybarless system and fly that. Don't just copy someone else's work for the sake of spending money, but then since money is no object to you and oohs and ahhs are all you are about...go shopping!
