Check this out... Looks very cool to me.. It is an actual belt drive tail conversion for almost any dual motor micro.

The only thing about the helicopter that is a Blade CP or a HoneyBee CP2 is the head. Everything else is changed. I'd probably just purchase a 3D Pro and move up to something a little beefier than spend that money on this heli.

Good find though.

I already have a TRex and its kinda big to be flying in some of the warehouses I fly in.. SO it just looked so inviting to me.

Yeah, I think that's a great idea too. Again, the charms of these little beasties, ie, their small size, longer run times on cheaper batteries, and lower repair costs (in this case all you really have to worry about are head pieces) don't really go away even when massively upgraded. This frame looks all but indestructable, and the head is still going to be cheap to repair.

It won't really be a CP/CP2 anymore, but oh well. I've got a nice brushless honeybee setup, and I think this would work out great.

I wonder what the cost would be to build a cp/cp2 around this kit from scratch? Might be a decent alternative or mid-step for people chosing between a sub-micro or the TREX/Shogun/X400 lines.

Hi all,

I have one of these kits. I converted my Humminbird Elite FP to a beltdrive system. I have some pictures in my gallery.

I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship of the kit. It went together well and now I'm free from that absurd little tail motor

My bird flys great only she's almost spooky quiet with the belt. I would highly recommend this for both blades and hummingbirds!!

not I'm not paid or affiliated with icon micro just a happy customer!

Cheers,
Leslie

Hi Martin,

Give CRB68 (on this board) a PM if you have questions. I don't know why he does not have contact info on his website yet. Although the site is new, I suspect under construction.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Leslie

Hi Martin,

The frame kit for my hummingbird assumed you would use a stock tower assembly. The stock tower, for the h-bird used double sided tape.

Check my gallery for some picts of the frame etc.

Also check out CRB68's gallery for pictures too.

This frame kit assumes you will take an existing birds part and move them over to the new frame.

Cheers,
Leslie

Leslie, I have to cut my stock Cp2 tower and glue it to the new frame ??

The servos on a cp2 are hold in place with screws..

Hi Martin,

I'm not familiar with the cp2 so I cannot comment. I upgrades a hummingbird elite which has a bolt on tower. An email to crb68 is probably a good idea

cheers,
Leslie

Hi Martin,

I just went back an looked at the website. If you look at the pictures for the blade cp vs the hummingbird; the blade picture looks like it includes a tower. Check it out and tell me what you think

Leslie

Hi Martin,

I would expect to be patient. I ordered mine around xmas time. CRB68 is retired and at the time was making them one at a time. He has since retooled his shop and started into production mode.

I waited a few weeks, which was fine and expected. I don't know what the lead time is now... another question for you email

Cheers,
Leslie

ps it was well worth waiting for

The website has a FAQ that says the lead time is two to three weeks until delivery. Like leslie says, the guy might get faster as he gets ramped up for production.

Also, it looks like the CP2 solution is going to be the same as the CP one; tape and zipties. When I get my kit, I might experiment with glueing the servo horns from the CP on to the new frame. But I might also just try the stickytape/ziptie method too, and see if it works ok. The frame looks like it will be quite a bit stiffer with less flex and play than stock.

Hi Martin,

Interesting, I've never heard of this heli. I wonder what the parts cost is like and where you can find parts. I'm always a little hesitant to go with a brand new design...

I kind of like going with other folks are running. Sometimes it's good to second, or third to get the new thing

I'm please with my 3dpro and new trex.

Cheers,
Leslie

Almost looks like a Esky Cool-type heli. Bigger than the CP-class, smaller than a TREX. Though as a Merkin, I'm not the handiest with metric measurements. I wonder what the head is based on. Shaft driven tail, looks like. That could be potentially bad news. I wonder what the frame is made out of. They say fiberglass, but it doesn't look like FRP.

akerkhof, the body is 490mm(without canopy)

490mm/25.4 = 19.29 inch the blade cp is about 18 inch without canopy.

It is drive-shaft, but with the all-alu head... good price I think.
