Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > new TT bearings broken already?

I just bought a pack of new TT bearings for tail rotor (PV0200)
Two of the four are already sandy, and I pulled a small metail grain out of the third one.
In the picture the two 'white' bearings are broken.
The metal grain came out of one of the 'yellow' ones.
Can someone check if these genuine TT bearings? There is no label whatsoever on them... And why are there two types (two with yellow and two with white seal) in one pack?

BTW the pack was not sealed, just stamped close. I did not notice anything out of order with the stamps.

First thing we do with any bearing (TT or otherwise) is to give them a good greasing with "The Greaser"..... then install.....

That removes any assembly type lube that is used by the factory....

TT probally out sourced them from a bearing JUNK HOUSE, and passed them on to you!, Just a thought.....

The greaser will not repair broken bearings.
These bearings are even worse than the one I wanted to replace

Nobody said it would..... If you take a brand new bearing and "flush" the factory goo that's found in the bearings (and whatever manufacturing debris that might be present suspended in the goo) and fill the bearing with a high quality grease, your chances for longer bearing life is increased.....

Well two bearings are already dead so there is no lifetime to improve anymore... The remaining two of course are [to be] greased [by me, to prolong their life]

Greased by who ???

If you are relying on the "grease" that comes in the new bearings, that is part of the problem..... I believe that some sort of assembly lube is used to manufacture the bearing...... it's up to the end user to "grease" the bearing with the appropriate grease for their particular use.....

If I recall correctly, all packaged should come sealed and stapled.

TT Bearings Are Cheap Low Grade Type Bearings!

In order for TT to sell the Raptor Helicopters at low
competitive price$ they have made cuts in Quality with
the bad bearings that you have as proof. All of Hirobo
helicopters use a much higher quality bearing that run
smoother and last much longer. Find a non TT replacement
bearing from a bearing supplier like NTN, NSK, Boca Bearings
R/C Bearings Etc....
The tail rotor bearings on the Raptor 30 & 50 wear faster
because "No Thrust Bearing" is used in this tail rotor
design. These radial bearings are not designed to take a high
thrust load, that is why they invented thrust bearings.
TT should redesign this tail rotor to include Trust Bearings!!!

Thats a laugh!!! Take the same bearings (The Raptor and Evo share a few sizes) from both kits and compare them - same numbers and marks (at least on the evos and raptors I owned), more or likely these bearings are of the same origin. All the plastic fantastics must use these lower grade bearings to be competetive, do you realize that adding a set of higher quality bearings would up the cost probably another $100 for the whole heli??? Just wont work in this market. If some of this guys bearings came damaged, he needs to send them back for some replacements, I would.

I also add my vote on greasing the bearings pre-use yourself - makes a difference.

Let me stress again that two bearings are BROKEN. No grease is going to help that. I already cleaned them out to check if foreign particles could be in their grease, and this is not the case.
New grease may mask the problem a bit but I want a smooth tail and broken bearings are not going to help that.

I think that a no-trust bearing is a suitable choice for a raptor 50.
With larger tail blades it might become a problem but I' pretty sure that the sideways load on these bearings stays within acceptable range.

The (minor) notchiness that I have on the previous bearings may have been caused by the few times that some grass was hit.

Yes I consider returning them. But I wonder if they may ask proof that these are not the old bearings

OK here is how the package looked after I pulled it open [that is, pulled the label off. So it was not sealed.]

Did you try sending the bad bearings back. I would appear that someone has done the old bait and switch.

Some arguments are sound and nothing more

That is something to think about. I have always bought genuine Raptor bearings and have had no problems with them. I personally find it hard to believe that they are of lower quality then found in other heli kits.

What makes one bearing better than another?

I checked couple parts I have on my hand and if there's paper on the top it's stapled only but not sealed. However that doesn't stop anyone from switching it. I would suggest you exchange it.

OK thanks for all the help. At least I know that this package was probably not tampered with and I might be able to get some warranty on it.

I returned the bearings to my LHS: Quartel Modelbouw
They replaced ALL FOUR bearings with new ones without hassle
Kudos to Quartel!

They thought that the pack may have been hanging on the rack for too long.
