I bought my QJ8 months ago and it flies fine but it's got no power at all. It's running a AXI 2820/10 on 14.4 volt lipo I forgot what the pinion is but it's already bogging and my head speed is around 1800. Should I trash the AXI and put on a KONTRONIK TWIST 37 and use my 14.4 lipo or should I go up to 6S lipo? or is the Twist wrong also .Does anyone have any good advice for me? Thanks Pals

Im using the AXI 2814/12 in mine with a 3s. I would say that it could use more power but its not as bad as it sounds. Im only doing sport flying. The motor never gets hot. You could find more power in your current setup with a smaller pinion and a higher headspeed/pitch ratio.

You can't use the Twist37 motor on QJ8. It is rated 3700Kv, you need a 5T pinion!

actually Im thinking of swapping out my whole power system. I was wondering what you guys think is the most ideal set up for any type of flying on the QJ8?

The more I think about itI should of just told the guy that sold me my QJ8 that I wanted a refund ,For him to tell me this heli would do 3D was a lie.I just really thought that I never setup my ESC properly with Gov mode or fixed mode and timing ,,all those dam decisions and nothing worked and all the friggin time I spent .Now I know that the heli setup just plain sucks .So when I figure out what new batteries and motor I need I think I will send him the bill. Hot Setupmastic,
I empathize with you about your terrible experience with the 8 so far but I think you could get some serious 3D outta a Mega 16/25/4 & an 8S setup. I watched a vid of "flytech" out in Cali flying with that setup and the heli is 3D capable. I don't speak from experience so forgive me for stepping in but after watching that vid, I'm convinced that the heli is 3D capable. Check out this post before you give up in this lil bird. http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t216167p1/

3D on the setup that guy sold you is just not gonna be very likey. You need to go 6 cells minimum for light 3D and 8-9 cells for heavier 3D. Either the guy had no idea what he was talking about and was misinformed or he outright lied to you. Sorry for your luck on that one. I suggest going with the A30-12XL and 8 or 9 cells 2100 in a series with a CC 45-HV ESC and an external BEC. This WILL be 3D ready and wont kill your bank account.

CC HV45If you go with the CC HV45 controller, order it directly from CC. They've had a # of problems with those controllers and have been working to correct them. You have a much greater chance of getting one that's problem free if you purchase from them. Just my 1/2 cent...

Havent most of those problems been either user error related or software related? If its software related it doesnt matter where you buy the controller just that you update it with the new software when its available. So pick up a phoenix link USB controller so you can update it and you are all set.
I have some that will be here in a day or 2 and then i will know for sure if this batch has any problems. Will let you all know.
If you need a Castle Link to program your HV45, let me know. I will let you use mine. All you will have to do is download the free software from the CC site.

Castle LinkThanx for the offer but I have the link. I don't have a HV45. I got that info from research. I do have that 80. I'm on the fence with CC right now. 1 too many bad controllers...
