Hi Guys,

I got just the std logo 10, and wondering what the max headspeed is I can run on it, and is it safe to 3d, i.e wont explode/parts fail?

Got th CF blades on it,

cheers

Fine for 3D and you should be safe up to 1950 rpm on the stock frame set. The Logo is a very well made machine, it is very unlikely you would make anything fly off or explode unless you went to an absolute redciulous headspeed.

To be on the very safe side I would not exceed the 1850 HS mark as that really is more than plenty to throw it around hard.

The LLS head speeds up the cyclic but the logo 10's are not known for blistering cyclic control

we can never have too many, can we ?

also found it had plastic bearings in the head assy, kinda sad to see. will try and find some real bearings.

thanks

The older kits had full bearings in the head. My last kit i notoces plastic bushings in the seasaw and flybar carrier. For the money it should have all the bearings the earlier kits had.
I just ordered the Mikado parts bearings and bolt to have full bearings again.

the older kits had bearings? Why would they change it to plastic? To safe 20cents on each bearing?

Oh, Took it for a spin tonight downthe park. Something rather dangerous happened. You know the mixing arms that come off the blade grips, well, while I was trying out the cyclic rate and power, on one of the mixer arms, it managed to rotate 180 degrees so it was now inverted. Still had control of the heli, but it felt weird, and the tracking went totally out. Landed, put full neg pitch and left cyclic and I managed to turn the mixer arm 180 degrees back. Its all assembled correctly, and have no binding. Maybe just got too much cyclic and pitch, but I need it to be able to 3d it. beginning to have second thoughts. cant wait for the ALign heli.....

cheers

That's an old problem. There is a head upgrade kit now that replaces the blade grips and arms to prevent the flip over (although officially it doesn't flip). I had one flip on the inverted portion of a roll and stripped the servo out followed by impact with terra firma. After that I installed pins to limt the arms from flipping, however I am planning on getting the head upgrade soon.

The earlier kits had a metal seasaw bolt with bearings, The later kits have plastic bolt and bushes. The canopy mounts used to be ali as well. It must save more than a few cents cos it is a step backwards but then thats "progress". It may not make a difference to flight but i feel for what we pay it should be bearings.

Bugger, I should have done some reserch before hand, I always assumed the logos were high quality kits, didnt hear too many bad things about them.

At the moment, im running the 13L with 13 tooth pinion on 4s. gonna try 5s next. shoud get the blades up to around the 2100- 2200 mark.

maybe for the couple hundred i need to spend to get this heli safe, ie thrust bearings, probably the 3d rotor head, etc, might not be worth it. is this upgrade pack, does it turn a std logo 10, onto a logo 10 3d? Are the woodies ok to 3d, or are we getting to the stage where they will be stressed beyond their limits? Its just the Cf blades are 20g heavier on each blade. woodies have much better cyclic. may need to get some sabs.

what do ya think?

cheers

The reason for the LLS head was the short mixing levers and with pitch + large cyclic input would cause flight issues (not smooth, and possibly the flip you've heard of). The light paddles and longer flybar are what make the cyclic fast.

I never saw the 'flip' on my old Logo10, but who knows, maybe I wasn't flying it hard enough back then, but then again I believe I was only running +/- 10 pitch and +/-6 cyclic... Mine did have bushings and all I added was the thrust bearing upgrade. It wasn't a 3D monster like my 14 is, but just a really nice flying machine with excellent parts quality Mikado has been known for. (High quality plastics, good fit, etc.)

I think the upgrade will be worth it for you. Logos fly so smooth. I'm not sure how the 13L will do on 5s, it had a reputation of being a hot motor, literally... I've heard good things about the Orbit 25 (w/fan).

I would strongly recommend against using woodies at any RPM over 1700...

There is word of a cheap Logo10 to compete with the Swift. Parts prices should be on their way down too, at least thats the rumor from reputable sources...

If you are looking for the Align or a 'new' machine, consider that it is new, and who knows what 'bugs' will be in it and how long it will take to sort out. You have a machine that's been around a little while, works great out of the box and even has a lot of options available.

I hope you are satisfied with whatever you decide... Fly it like you stole it

My personal choise is BBT blades (same Mfg of Mikado blades), but I don't know what is offered in the 500-515mm line... If you go outside the Mikado line, you can usually specify 1 of 3 weight ranges when you order the blades to suit your flying.

I have used them on my eRaptor 50's and my Logo14 and I love them!

just an update, I went and bought the logo head upgrade ($115 AUD for a few bits of plastic) and the logo flies much better, and can flip it now without too many problems. Need more power now, Once you have it set up, its actually quite a smooth quiet heli, just now need to get the ooooooh ahhhh factor out of it.

So does the Deluxe version include the head upgrade? I'm contemplating Logo 10 vs Logo 10 3D, and it's 180 dollars more expensive. Is it worth that much money

Yes, I have the same question. Is the Logo 10 3D worth the extra cost??

I think Logo 10-3D is a good deal -- the new LLS head, the alum swashplate, fully ballraced, etc. Just these few items would cost more than $180 difference.
