Safety - RC Helis are not toys > Accident

Francisco P.Heliman - Location: Oviedo Spain Europe -
This message I put it in order that, if it can be, someone learns something and does not return to happens.
I changed the way of flight, of 1 to 2.
I put to detach, the heli came a bit backward, I gave more pitch) and towards after when I wanted to do everything opposite.
It became vertical and one threw me above. The more it was correcting, worse, I were sending him upside-down.
It fell to the soil and they broke the spades in pieces. It must to me have reached some piece.
When I received the blow I stopped seeing for the left eye and it was bleeding very much.
Thanks to a few companions who were there, and they raised me rapidly to urgencies, If I manage to be alone as at some time....
They were giving me points more of an hour,I not know those even.
I cant open the eye.And at the moment I do not see any more than light, though they say to me that it can be of the blow, which I do not have not damaged at all and which I will recover the vision when little time happens.
This is a hobby that it stops being in these circumstances.
I don`t know if everything send it to the rubbish , certainly if before it had very much respect, now I am going to be afraid and in these conditions it is not necessary to to fly; it is a risk for you and for the others.
Well, I hope that it uses as something....

Sorry to hear about yor accident and I hope everything works out OK.
But like anything else in life there is risk and reward. We try to elimate the risk from these activities but no matter how much we try to eliminate the risk these things can and still do happen. If in the end analysis you find the risk is not worth the reward then you have a choice to make.

Maybe too late to help this heli pilot, but I've started wearing safety glasses with most if not all activities that have the possibiliy of getting stuff in my eyes. The expense of a good pair of safety glasses is slight as compared to the potential loss of sight due to an eye injury.

Francisco,

So sorry to hear about this accident.

Please update us on your condition. How is your eye doing?

I know this is too late for Francisco but for everyone here Stateside, Lowes has some really good tinted safety glasses that might just save someones sight in case of an accident. In addition, you can get safety glasses from so many places it will make your head spin, it's just a matter of finding the right pair for you and your flying. Mirrored and tinted are available at Travers Tool, MSC, J&L, KBC and even from Wal Mart optical shops.

Check them out.

The first thing, thanks to all for your words.
After one month still I do not see practically anything for an eye.
In the forehead I have cut a zone of nerves that prevents me from moving and having sensibility.
The recovery of the eye will be slow.
I have to do other tests to me to know in that been one finds the eye and his recovery.

I do not want to leave this hobby.
Certainly that when it returns there is necessary to pilot I will take all the possible precautions.

Have taken care there out...

If i have it right,Francisco changed his TRANSMITTER FROM MODE1 TO MODE2...then dumb thumbed it because his brain and hands were still trying to be mode1

If that's right, Francisco, GET A SIM ...realflight or reflex are favourite. but PRACTICE until your hands move the sticks correctly without you thinking about it.

your injuries look very painful, Iwish you a speedy recovery.

I said fransisco hope everything goes well, you have to be careful with helicopters and need to protect your eyes the next time. Jimmi <==P.S. use sunglasses when I fly
