I'm trying to decide if the Gov is worth it? Also if I use a GV1 and a 401 do I really need an 8 channel radio, or can I use a 7C and just not have remote speed setting?

i would highly recommend a revmax. i put one on my other heli and liked it so much, i just ordered one for my tiger. and its only $89, alot less than a GV-1

I run a TJ Pro on my 50 and a RevMax on my 90. Both do the job, the TJ really likes a fast servo where as the RevMax seems to be just as happy with any servo.

Would you say that a Gov is essential for 3D, or only when doing really intense stuff like tic-tocs? For now I just want to be able to do some flips and get use to transitioning orientations of flight.

If you throttle curves are set up properly, you can do any 3D manouver without the use of a govenor.

RobRoy,

When you say "fast", how fast would you say is adequate? I'm contemplating getting a governor myself, but I only have a 6 channel radio. The TJ Pro has a "static" setting on the box, or a remote setting from the radio. If I go with that, I can wait a while before I upgrade the radio. On the other hand, my throttle servo is relatively slow (0.18 transit IIRC).

Does the RevMax have a non-remote setting mode as well?

Thanks,
Jason

On my TJ Pro, I started out running a Futaba 3001 servo which is .23 sec. I changed that to a 9253 which runs at .07 sec. and there was a huge difference in perfromance. Either servo will work, the TJ's just really hold the head speed alot better with the faster servo's.

I'm running DS 811 servos right now (switching to 9252s soon). I am not having any problems with the .18 speed and the TJ Pro. I imagine the faster servos will be smoother though, but my throttle servo isn't going to be changed until after I switch out the cyclic servos.

cheap, easy to setup, reliable - the CSM revlock governor. it just simply takes a ton of guesswork out of setting up your heli. of course if you have your throttle and pitch curves setup perfectly you might not notice the difference - but for 90 bucks why sweat it. also, that is the key here - setup perfectly. even then I doubt you can hold rpms as well as a governor. it makes your aerobatics (or as I call them stunts), more consistent, you can work on your flying instead of setup. Go governer.
