Well, it started out today at -15. Went out for two tanks when it was about -12 this morning. Until my fingers went numb. Then went out in the beautiful afternoon here. A nice mild -5 and gorgeous blue skies.

Took some photos and I'll put a few here. The rest are in the gallery if you're interested in taking a peek.

Some pics were taken with a low res binocular camera so don't slag me for flying too close to things. It's the perspective illusion of the camera. You'll see part of the beautiful Rocky Mountains in the background.

Hope everyone else got to go out and enjoy some flying today.

Shayne

Get The Perk

Hey Herc,

Minus 1 on the Alberta side today. Got a couple tanks thru here also.
Switched from 20 % to 30% nitro, so a bit of fiddling with the idle mix and a bit of hovering in sunny skies.

Thanks for the pics

Hey Cassat

Where abouts in Alberta are you? Do you fly a Tiger?

Warmed up here the last couple of hours. I think we got up to +2. Beautiful day - either on the west slope, or the east slope.

Old School

No, I was flying an older Concept 30 SR while I am finishing my Hawk Pro. Building them all from scratch here.

Nice pics HERC. Glad to see that you did some flying today. It takes a dedicated heliman to go out in -15 deg weather and fly. I solute you. I am glad I had my Tiger to put together today. The winds here where around 40mph, so I had a good excuse to stay in the house and build.

Fess up Travis, brown truck delivered your Tiger on Friday and you were probably hoping for bad weather so you could finish it up! How is it progressing?

John, you are too funny. I am about 90% done with the build. I have all the electronics in and ready for final setup. I went and purchased paint today so that I can take the canopy and tail fins to work tomorrow and get them painted. I am also thinking of tracing the fins out and making some out of carbon. I will have to make sure my boss does not catch me though..

I am getting excited about getting this in the air. I ordered my engine yesterday and payed to get it here in 2 days so that I can get in on the bench and break it in. With any luck, I will maiden it on Friday.

Good to hear Cassat! I just got back in myself. Nice day here again and got 5 tanks through. Have to get the flying in now. We're supposed to have a high of -17 next Saturday so don't think I'll get out. Besides, I'm almost out of fuel and that's very difficult to get here. Guess I'm going to have to break down and have it delivered.

Sun is up at about 4:30 or 5:00 and so am i, at home drinking lemonade by 7:30 or 8:00 in the AC. Thanks Herc I will. I have to say your a dedicated pilot to be out at those temps. But i guess once you got the heli bug..... you got it. I spend so much time and money in this hobby, but hell you can't take it with you so use it and have fun Flying.

Hmmm, we had a frigid 49° today in Orlando. Worse tomorrow! Back into the 70s by Wednesday. Cold snap spill over from that noreaster blanketing the east coast.

jbeech...

Ahhh to have 49 degree weather. We had 4 to 6 inches of "snow" this weekend in Virginia. I was hoping to get out and fly some this weekend. Not a chance. It was just about to get dry around here again. I'm still waiting to get to show off my new heli hauler. It's stuck in the backyard with the snow and the mud!!! Maybe I can sweet talk my wife into letting me pave the backyard, then I'd have a great landing pad!

Almost got an evening fly in yesterday but I was beat from plowing. We had like 10-12" of the white stuff.

The flying season in AZ is just reversed compared to most other areas in the country. Come July it's 110 here in the shade so you really need to be motivated to be out and flying in that heat. I'm usually home by noon in the summer.
