I got my astro 020 back from astro last week; put it in the voyager and flew around, looks like it's ok; I'd like to have a little more power and believe I'll go with the hacker, now if I can find a place with a good price.
advice would be greatly appreciated.

Astro 020

melvonnar, How much do you want for the Astro 020 or were do you have it for sale? I would like to try it in and airplane. If I am correct it is the old style without the built in heatsink?

HOW COLD IS IT?

OK Guys, Scranton, PA had a mild winter this year and we just missed the bullet with this last noreaster that hit New York to Maine..,We only got about 4" of snow but New York got 27" just missed the bullet by about 15 miles. We did not miss on cold after the storm the temp went down to 9 degrees. We our now in a warm up and should be in the 50's for a couple of days...So I mostly fly my HB V3 in my cellar during this time of year, and when the weather warms up I fly my Voyager E outside, and I think this year I am going to try and fly my HB outside just for fun...I should be a weather man? Ha Ha Ha Ha...

Hacker c40-8L v's 9L

What is the difference between these two motors when used in the Voyager-E? Suggestions on best sources for either motor - I've tried a google search but seem to get lost - what key phrase have you used?

020 Astro

Hi Peter84, I got my astor 020 and CC45 ESC From AeroMicro phone number 408 255-5566. The cost was $194.95 shipped and the item number is AF803HV make sure you get the right item number or you could get the wrong 020 they have three one for the t-rex, corona, and voyager. I have the new motor which I believe was improved and seems to run cooler. I've not had a problem yet knock on wood. Now the big thing you need to take into consideration is if you our sport flying or 3D. I am a sport flyer so I don't need the high torque that comes with the hacker motor. If you are going to do 3D get the hacker motor hands down..Tower Hobbies also has the motor for $199.00 and you must be a member to get the free shipping another cost of $29.00. You can see a photo of the motor at tower hobbies...I hope this was helpful...

Hacker v's Astro

Thank you for your reply. I too have a cc45 and Astro 020 (the older version without heatsink) in my V-E. I use this heli for sport flying using 8-cell NiMh and am looking for longer duration and improved headspeed and performance. Hence my question about the relative merits of the two Hacker motors 8L v's 9L. I wonder if just going to LiPo 3s3p might be my best bet and keep the Astro 020?

60 Degrees today in Scranton, PA

Hi Peter84, I agree if you are going for longer flights and more power then go with the Hacker. I to am using a 8 cell I only have one battery for now, but this summer if the helicopter works out OK I will buy a 10 cell 3600NiMH for about $48.00 not a bad price. I am going to add SAB blades 440 NOTE: if anyone out there has used the carbon fiber SAB blades please let me know if there is a problem I should be aware of...I am not going to change my motor yet I am happy with the 020 so far, and will go out this evening 60 degrees and try and fly before tomorrow (Friday) when the weather is going to break and we will be going back to 25 degree weather with rain and snow by afternoon...

Hurricans!!

I understand melvonnar, but you are right about one thing HURRICANS!! I lived in South Carolina for 14 years and lived through 2 hurricans and realized that is not the way to go. We still have about two months before I can go out and cut grass.. Enjoy flying today I got a long holiday weekend and looking foward to flying my voyager this weekend in my garage. Live to Fly - Fly to Live....I got that decal on all my RC helicopters and airplanes...

we had three hurricans just miss us last summer; wind got up to 95 where I live; knocked a few limbs off the trees in my yard, that was about it, some lost the roofs of there homes--not good- when they built my home it was designed to stand 120 MPH so I don't get to worried when a storm comes.

hacker c40 8l vrs 9l

hi,,on the voyager e-----hacker c40 8l is for sport flying and heavy 3d flying ,,the 9l is for sport flying and mild 3d,,,the bl is about 3700kv and 9l is about 3900 kv,,,the 8l is heavier than the 9l and the 8l will use a bit more battery time,,i'm reading these posts,,i can't believe all the people still using NI batteries,,,LI-PO cells are the only way to go,,,a 3000 mah or up with atleast a 15c output!!!
