Hmm...not sure about this. The hyper has a better carb and head on it. What's wrong with it?

Besides being supposedly harder to tune, costing $50 more, and only offering about a 10% increase in performance, I suppose nothing is "wrong" with it. Like I said, I simply wasn't interested in it; I don't claim to say that it's a bad engine.

Chopper Man, that's a great deal. I wonder when they will get more in stock.

I'm not knocking your decision - I was just curious about what was wrong with it.

FWIW: I think there might be a mixup - the hyper is easier to tune than the non-hyper. The non-hyper had to be run slighty richer on the top end to avoid leaning out the midrange too much. Hence Augustos "Magic for the OS50" thread. This was remedied in the hyper.

Hmm. You're right. That annoys me in a couple ways. Firstly, I can't believe I was stupid enough to get the two crossed. I did my homework, but the entire time I somehow managed to apply that knowledge to the wrong engines ::slaps forehead:: Secondly, I'm rather disappointed that the guy at the local store didn't say differently. They aren't payed on commission, so there's really no excuse for it.

So basically I bought a piece of junk. I really. Really. REALLY. Hate when I buy JUNK. I've already mounted the engine, so there's no taking it back now.

Anyone want to buy a brand new Sceadu EVO 50, complete with engine and radio? 750 shipped.

I just bought me one last night:D:D:D:D My set-up is as follows:
jr 9303
9252 all around
tj pro
os 50 hyper
funtech pipe
611 gyro.
I've only got to step 4, but the quality of the molding of these parts is unreal. You dont have to scape tons of flashing of with an exacto and risk cutting you dang fingers off. Also Im building mine with all metric hardware. I cant stand anything phillips on anything I build. Btw I started with the blade cp (complete junk imo). Got the trex se (loveing it). That spawned a large nitro the night 50. It flew awesome but since Im so new at building I desided to dump it because there is so much more info and help on this evo since its been around so long. I would have kept the knight for sure had my mechanical skills been what they need to be with those crappy ass directions. Anyway off to build now.

I would think that as long as you havent run fuel through it, then they should take it back as an exchange for a hyper. Most LHSs are pretty good about that. Id give it a try.

Then again, most LHSs probably wouldn't have tried so hard to get me to buy the non-hyper in the first place. But yes, I will try.

My opinion: I think the problem you have with most LHSs is that although they might be well-intentioned, they don't provide you with the best advice. This is especially true with helis - for some shops, helis are a very small niche for them and it is hard to find people that are knowledgeable about them. Your best bet is to do what you are doing by joining different forums and getting information. Soon you will be able to weed through bad info and get what you need. Unfortunately it takes time and experience.

Just remember to keep asking questions here, and welcome to RunRyder and the Hirobo forum. The evo is a nice heli.

Well you know why the LHS pushed this engine so much, its because a guy that did his homework (I know it happens to the best of us picking it up wrong) would not buy the non-hyper. So this was his way of getting rid of an old design engine. But in saying all that, theres a guy in my field with the same engine and dam he flys the crap out of that Evo(he has a MP2 low ratio pipe on it). If your just starting out it should be ok for a while.

I would worry about he engine. Learn to fly the EVO,when you need a little extra Hp. Buy a Hyper carb and head, sell it and buy a Hyper50 or just keep it and put it on a plank.

Welcome my son, Welcome to the machine

Well, I've decided that nitro is a big waste of time and effort, so I'm selling my EVO. Head on over to the classifieds if you guys are interested in a completely new, unflown ship!

Sorry to hear it dude....what's the problem? So you didn't get the engine you were looking for...it's not like you'd notice the difference in the first year or so of flying

I'd hate to see you throw it all away...

Not really worth ranting about, but I'm not doing this because the engine isn't a hyper.

Nothing wrong about a non Hyper... just stick a 60B carb into it and it will outperform most regular tuned hypers anyway. Hyper = Normal + different head + different carb.

Heh heh... I guess I was only temporarily distraught about the engine. In all honesty, I wouldn't sell the whole kit and caboodle over something as petty as that. And no, there is nothing "wrong" with the chopper. I suppose I just don't think nitro provides me with enough benefits to justify with how hard it is to work with.

If you haven't even run your engine then how would you know for sure?

That nothing is wrong with it? Mechanically speaking, I don't. However, I meant that there is no piece of equipment on it that I am not currently content with.

I will accept further rude inquisition through PMs, if you feel the need to continue.

I guess I'm trying trying to find out why you said that nitro is hard to work with. You aren't going to find an electric with the same performance as an Evo 50 without spending a large wad of cash.

My bet is that he is dumping the hobby altogether... he is selling the radio... so I don't think he is going the electric route.

my two cents

hi

Just keep it, fly it.. You aint gonna notice a difference between a non hyper and hyper until youre stickbanging anyways.

Just my .02 cents.. Stick to the hobby, dont be a wuss..

Crash-Prone and overcoming it!!!
