Phillip, there is no "ONE" person that can enforce or police the rules, everyone has to do it, it is the resposibility of all club members to enforce rules, and not allow a few individuals to break the rules that are in place. AMA is not going to cover a field that has maniac's flying at it, and your risking your field and coverage. Daz...

I agree with you. It is the responsibility for all club members to make your flying field safer.

Why is it that the simplest F***ing rule, i.e. maintaining a flight line seems to be the most difficult to enforce? I have this problem at my club. I rant and rave, they tell me they know I'm right then they keep on violating the flightline, flying over and behind people. I just told everyone that we'll fly one at a time and keep our eye to the sky. What else can you do?

Glock 22

Phillip,

It is this reason alone that I am always armed when flying at the flying field. May I suggest you do the same.

Please check with your local laws and regulations against shooting a Radio Controlled helicopter and/or it's pilot.

The Nevada Revised Statute reads as so:

NRS 555.1212
A person may use all reasonable force neccessary, up to and including deadly force to protect one's self, or another, from an attack or "near miss" from an RC helicopter.

The "shooter/protector" may also takes all neccessary steps to ensure the same dumb ass pilot does not have a chance to re-create this same dangerous situation, up to and including, the use of deadly force.

I hope this helps you Phillip.

Yea...We Bad

It is a real Hell Hole here in the states.
I can't figure why so many are falling all over themselves trying to get here.

That bung-hole of a murdering sniper (domestic or import) would have his weapon anyway, one way or the other.
Some of us law abiders just like the chance to even things up a little.

Gonna play Cowboys and Saddams soon enough I reckon.

We don't need no stinking lectures about how bad our country is, from no limey.

I'm an ex pistol shooter/victim of the politicians here in the UK, I was doing rather well at the regional level in the UK and was progressing onto the national level when the pistol ban was enforced.

The simple fact is that the legislation was not enacted to protect people it was a political act designed to help win the election being contested at that time.

That’s why they started off saying "we'll wait for the Cullen report" and then days later announced a limited ban, the Tories said they would go further then Labour went one step further again, all this before the report they were going to wait for was finished!

Hamilton (the offender at Dunblaine) should have had his licence revoked many times over before the killings, he had even pointed one of his guns at someone but he allegedly had the right handshake and the local police wouldn't take action.

The simple fact is you can't stop people doing these things no matter how hard you try they will find a way. By all means don't make it easy for them but our rights as innocent law abiding citizens should not be affected by the act of a few mainiacs!

I for one will never point a gun of any kind at any living creature, and I don't think I would feel need for one for self defence in the UK if it were legal. This is my choice but I fully support the rights of others that wish to hunt/use a gun for self defence (within the law) to do so.

Defend your rights no matter how small they seem, once their gone they are all but impossible to get back.

I would have thought hitting a heli with anything other than a shotgun would be tricky. 3D skeet shooting anyone?

Andy.

Actually it's not that farfetched to carry a gun when flying a heli. My official flying field is 30 minutes from the city in the middle of pretty much nowhere. Now living in Cajun country is bad enough but in New Orleans I have to content with 'MUDs'. That's Minority Urban Dwellers who would just love to take a 9Z to a pawn shop to get some $$ for their next rock of crack.
There have been several documented reports of pilots robbed at knife or gunpoint at isolated flying fields. The gun is just a tool to me like a pitch gage or a allen driver, it hasn't talked to me yet demanding that I kill some of the plank flyers. The other voices in my head won't give it a chance.
BTW, CCW holders have a lower crime rate per capita than police officers. And that's not just in Louisiana.

Carry a guy go to fly Heli is too much and too extreme for me. If public field is out of control, probably either I will join a private flying club or go to buy a piece of land and do some crazy flying. In Texas, land is not expensive as you think.

But that is not the point, flying heli is fun but making new friend with similar interest is priceless.

safety warnings

hey guys!
like rocket sez, i usually go over, and in a very friendly way ,JACK HIM UP! like a "hey dude, you're causing a few heart attacks flying over there in case ya didnt know. you may wanna keep it over there, i figured you weren't aware." now if that doesn't work, then off goes the niceness and on with the stern state trooper like warning. it may even help to make the next approach carrying a baseball bat

drive a rotary, fly a rotorcraft

I would wonder if this "friend" was realy that if he did something that dumb. He should be ban from the field for a perion of time. Then given a list of the rules along with a contract that he agrees to follow them or risk lossing his rights to this field forever.
