You're right, that was a cheap shot. Sorry. I'm just like you, I'm old school too. My first heli was a Morley! No gyro, airplane motor, airplane radio.

I just get so pissed off when these companies come in with a product that's advertised as RTF, charge very little, and attract the uninformed who think it's easy to fly heli's. Then the product needs some modification to fly correctly, and they obviously don't know any better, so they fly it anyway.

Have you ever let a novice try your simulator? What's the first thing they do? Full throttle and then toss around the sticks and say, "hey, I can DO this!" Yeah - try to hover it.....

At least with a serious kit that you've carefully built, you'll respect it and have a reasonable and safe learning curve.

I also enjoy a challenge just like you. But - that's what I got a Micron for! -Bill

Well ,,, I for One own Two Honey Bee cp2 and One Blade cp..
I now have over 10 hr. of flight time on just one of my Honey Bee cp2 and over 2 hr. of forward flight,,and I think it's A GREAT LITTLE HELICOPTER FOR THE MONEY!!

I also think the Honey Bee cp2 comes with better parts then the Blade cp from the start. Oh well,, for the money you can't beat them!!

Maybe I just got a bad one. I've read a lot of good stuff about the Blade CP AND the Honeybee CP2. I went with the Honeybee because it has Bell-Hiller mix and the Blade doesn't. I figured getting a helicopter with features similar to my other birds for $188.00 was worth the risk. There is also a good review on the Honeybee in Rotary Magazine.

I've got my hands full with the little Micron. That's what I'm tinkering with now. The Honeybee was supposed to be a ready-to-go true 3D bird to throw around and not worry about. That seems to be what Esky has marketed it for.

Anyway I felt just like you. I just had to buy it because for the money, you can't beat it. But mine was a lemon.

I for one like a challenge. If someones heli isn't working for them, maybe me/someone can bring it back from the dead or revive it or make it work. I do like a challenge/rebuilding and thats what its all about for some of us. Sometimes we can get very disapointed or disalusioned on a product and that happens all the time. Someone comes along and has the answer and we go back to enjoying and tinkering with our toy. I would always stress in this hobby, patients, learning about the product, how much time you willing to put into your product/hobby and getting as much info. from others as possible. And with that said your on your way to enjoy the best hobby on this planet and thats flying r/c helicopters. Theres nothing more gratifying then getting that bird in the air and everything goes according to plan

So if anyone wants to give there heli a good home, I'm willing to adopt

Jimmi I did buy a Honeybee afterall just to see what all the problems are with it. I'm in the process of adding the electrics (all seperates and bl) I should have it in the air next week. I enjoy building a good flying heli...
If I had the time I would like to take a guys crappy fling heli and fix it so it flies great and send it back to them, so they could see what a good flying bird is like... but most of the time it would take some money invested to fix all of the issues and most don't want to spend the money for the upgrades if needed....Maybe when I'm finally retired..............

I totally agree with you.

I injured myself recently and can't get out to fly my Raptor50V2 for the next couple of months. What better than an "out of the box" back garden heli. For £130 I thought the honeybee CP2 fit the bill nicely.
When it arrived, I charged up the li-po's and set it up on my 9c in order to keep the same feeling when I returned to fuel flying.

I checked out all the settings, movements and actions and they appeared ok on the bench.

Out in the garden I opened the throttle and worked hard at controlling the tail. Nothing. A bit more. Nothing. over half way. Nothing. At about 3/4 throttle off she went at 100mph. WTF!!!

I reset the head following an article on this site and the problem was solved (thank you to the article writer). It seems that they (E-Sky) often get the washers the wrong way round in the factory (well what do you expect for £130 ... something that works??? Well yes actually).

What would have happened if the initial takeoff had happened indoors perhaps with my 14year old watching in close attendance???

With mega effort on the tail control stick, I can hover (after 3 sets of blades). I have searched several forums and tried every recommendation and setting on the "4in1" gain and proportional. I can get it better, to the point of hovering, but dare not risk a basic circuit. WHAT A POOR DO.

Other complaints would include the canopy, battery "fixings", sloppy servos, head play and the instructions.

As I have plenty of time on my hands, and refuse to be beaten, I will continue modifying the little darling. HOWEVER ... I refuse to spend money on it other than standard parts damaged in attempts to fly it.

I've got to admit that thoughts of throwing it in the skip or better still stamping on it next time it does the dying chicken accross the lawn have crossed my mind.

To any lawyers out there ..... If one of these things, out of the box, flew up and hit the pilot in the face could they sue (or better still prosecute) E-Sky?

Apologies to those of you who have achieved success with this PoS but god I feel better for having got that lot off my chest.

It is a POS but I can finally hover it. The TX is the problem as far as I am concerned I have a Royal evo and spent many hours to just get it to lift off. I did not want to endanger any of my other helicopters learning to programme the evo the CP was expendable and outside. If they gave me the CP and made me buy blades and parts from them they would have made more money.

I agree about the radio. I'm not being a snob honestly but, with the exception of the servo reverse facilty (we used to fit the servo arm 180 degrees out if we wanted reverse), I haven't used such a basic controller for over 20 years. How we are expected to fly a cp heli with it is beyond me and I would challenge Curtis Youngblood to fly it out of the box!!!

I have set up my Futaba 9C and it is pretty close now (thanks to forum contributors).

Tomorrow will see the third pair of blades and a new tail motor going on followed by further adjustments to the 4in1 gain and proportional settings. I have come so close to stamping on it. On a positive note though, I have had some half decent hovers out of it today. However, the tail is still badly behaved (IMHO).

Am I right in thinking that the gyro on my transmitter will have no effect on the model? It certainly doesn't seem to improve things.

I had no success with revo mixing and the gyro channel #5 (US?) is not used at all. The adjustment of the 4n1 is the tricky part. Set the gyro gain down to its lowest point and then adjust the tail mix by trying to hover, I use a slick floor and training gear and watch for the CP to turn then adjust a bit till it will stay still while it is light on the skids. After adjusting for best hold then turn the gyro gain back up and then you should have it. When the battery starts to fade the tail will not hold as good and is noticeable.
I am using a GWS long can motor on mine and it has held up well. The stock ones would pitch out the bearing on the pinion end in just a few minutes. I think that this is the direct drive motor on the Dragonfly but I bought their pinion, drilled it out to fit the shaft and pressed it on, I still use the gear reduction.

Will turn off revo and gyro on the Tx and go through your 4in1 setting up procedure.... thanks.
Update to follow (fingers crossed as I'm fast running out of spares).

I know I said I wouldn't spend any £'s on upgrades ... BUT ... I have just ordered a twin motor tail mount. The concept just seems to make so much sense to me with regard to improved response and motor longevity. Anything that gives me a bit more tail authority can't be bad.... can it???

That looks NICE!!! Let me know how it works out. I have a set of plasti blades plastic and they make it a bit more stable at the expense of performance but save me a lot of money on wood. I am just trying to hover without wrecking it. I can hover a JR Venture 30 CP in the front yard and have put almost a gallon of fuel through it with no problems.

Make sure you check you balance after installation of the second tail motor. Slightly nose heavy is good. A tail heavy heli is more difficult to hover.

I fitted the twin motor tail set up and was not happy with the CofG.
So ... Blindly following the advice of some fool on this forum I cut an inch off the tail boom.

DO NOT DO THIS.

The main blades now foul on the tail rotor blades ... well they would wouldn't they. I don't know who's the bigger fool ... the pillock who suggested the fix or me for doing it without thinking through the consequences.

Awaiting a new tail boom and tail rotor blade.

(Pretty proud of myself for writing this without using the F word)

i bought the blue twin motor setup from helidirect. I cut an inch off the tail boom and haven't had any problems. Which setup did you buy?

Nevermind i look at the pic above duh! Anyway i think your tail rotor must be moved forward more than the other one from helidirect.
I mine has way more tail authority than before.
