I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms this weekend. I stripped the TR front pinion gear, and I'm waiting on parts.

The TR fin doesn't go down far enough in my opinion. The TR rotor touched down in the grass as I was attempting to takeoff and I wasn't even tipping rearward. Has anyone made a better TR guard ?

I added a piece of thin ply (left over from original plywood crutch cut out) in a triangular shape to lengthen the tail about an inch or more -- mounting it to the two existing holes at tip of stock tail. You can also add spacers to landing gear bulkhead or lengthen plastic mounts to get the crutch higher. I even tried a plastic rod (the type used for antenna wires) and looped it in a semi-circle around TR blades giving an additional inch of protection all around. I eventually purchased a belt kit.

After replacing a tail rotor fin, I made one out of 1/8” plywood. Drilled 4 holes in it a zip-tie it in place instead of using glue. It’s longer and much stronger. The zip-ties make it easy to remove for maintenance and such. So far, this has been a winning decision for me.
