Ok, so it started to get dark but that was no reason to stop flying he said before thinking about the concequences.

CRASHED!!

I landed on the button, the feathering shaft bent, fly bar bent, boom sheared off at the mount, main gear stripped, blade holder snapped.

For a reasonably hard hit I was surprised at the small amount of damage, but now for the question!!!

Where is the best place to get parts for a Caliber 30??

I do need to mention one more thing, those woodies are strong, they held up in the inverted landing!!

Happy rotoring,
Steve.

I buy from many online and Local shops. Although Heli Proz seems to have a good supply of Caliber 30 parts. They've always been good to me.

Did you strip your main gear? How about the drive belt?

PS. did almost the same, 2 weekends ago.

I didn't think to check the main belt, but it should be ok I hope! I bought my parts from the same place as I bought the machine, HeliProz. the reason I first asked was because I had about there being a parts problem for the new Caliber, which was obviously not true.

The total parts list was: -

663019 1 CA3019 Main Gear 90T CA30 $8.99 -- $8.99
663020 1 CA3020 Main Mast CA30 $11.79 -- $11.79
663048 1 CA3048 Tail Pipe (Boom) Ca30 $10.99 -- $10.99
663049 1 CA3049 Tail Boom Support Tube $11.39 -- $11.39
663074 1 CA3074 Servo Linkage Set CA30 $9.79 -- $9.79
663009 1 CA3009 Stabilizer Bar (Flybar) $6.09 -- $6.09
663004 1 CA3004 Spindle Shaft CA30 $7.29 -- $7.29
663005 1 CA3005 Main Rotor Grip CA30 $11.29 -- $11.29

Plus some balls for the main rotor grip as it doesn't come with any and a 60 size blade holder as the main shaft is so large. All in $102 including shipping. Can't wait to finish work to get working on my baby, the parts should be here today!

The only sad thing about the evening is that I found one more broken part, the plastic that the feathering shaft goes through has snapped as well so it is another part and another $20 in shipping so that I can flying for the w/e.

Damn helicopters.....

Gee Limey,,, you got by cheap.
I've crashed my caliber twice now. Both times it was within $20 of $200! The first crash got everthing but the belts, gears and forward radio section. The second time almost all the same stuff but didn't have to get the main frames. They were tweaked but I didn't replace them. The second crash included a set of carbon mains and tail blades. All four blades were trashed. Actually I can't take credit for the second crash as I let one of our club instructors take it for a spin. He had never flown with a HH gyro and it confused him and he got disoriented.
He paid half and I paid half. He wouldn't have crashed if I hadn't offered to let him fly it! It's flying good again though.

Oh my god! How did the machine make contact with the earth, well apart from badly! I can't believe it has cost you that much, although I know the carbon blades are not cheap.

From my one accident on this machine it seems rather resilient. I have crashed my Concept 30 more time than I care to remember and that always seemed to hold up pretty well, only once did I break a frame, although the skids didn't seem to take much before they snapped.

Both crashes, it went in hard on it's side. Once on it's left and once on the right side. The first time it hit on the right side with the skids and frames taking the hardest hit. The motor mounts were bent pretty bad and both side frames were broken in many places. In that one, the main shaft and mixing arms survived but got the spindle and blades. Second crash it hit on asphalt on the left side with the muffler and skids taking the brunt of the impact. It tore up everthing on the head. The main head block, both grips, mixing arms, main shaft, main gear and then all the usual crash parts.
After tis crash I decide I needed something I could afford to crash more so I bought a Hawk sport. I haven't flown the Hawk yet but I'm pretty happy with the way it went together.
