| DAY 2 - Full Frame Assembly (Feb 1, 06)
I am impressed with the quality of the Hirobo kit. The instructions are layed out very well and it is coming along faster than I thought so far. Hopefully I didn't jinx myself??? In two days (working non-stop), I was able to put the entire frame and engine together.
I'm going to try something not in the instructions, but I think it might help with vibrations later on. The front frame in made of pressed steel pieces that fit flat together. I decided to place some small pieces of electrical tape where the metal to metal contact is. SEE PIC BELOW:
I think this will help to absorb some vibrations and reduce wear & tear later.
I've never flown a tandem rotor, but I'll soon learn. The price is quite high for the CH-7 kit, but everything is included and the fit and finish is great. Once assembled it will only require electronics and painting.
Many other scale helicopters I've seen, give you nothing more than a fiberglass shape that resembles the body. That is not the case with this kit. I've built several other helis including : 2 Kyosho Caliber 30s, a Century Hawk mech.(.30 size Airwolf), 2 T-Rex , and a TT Hyper-Raptor .50! I'm still in the begining of the build, but I am very impressed with Hirobo so far. This Hirobo kit is done well!
I'll keep posting my progress!
