Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Stylus slider to gyro gain in-flight adjustment

With my 9c, I have a slider that adds +-10% to the gain by moving the slider. I did a bunch of searches on the Stylus and didn't see a "how-to." Would it be possible to post how you assigned a slider to adjust the gyro gain in flight on a Stylus?

Thanks,
Tom

Why don't you just use the inc/dec switch?

Yes, I enabled the gyro 2 since I have a 601 I set gyro 1 to 34% and gyro 2 to 37%. That should be enough. But that slider begs to be used and I loved having gyro trim on the 9c. I was surprised how many times I trimmed it from day to day. Perhaps I keep it too close to chattering, but anyway, that was the reason.

Tom,

If you assign the inc/dec function to the spring loaded switch, you can change any menu item as long as it is displayed on the screen.

If you want to use a mix just assign an aux channel to one of the sliders on the side of the TX, mix aux to gyro and you can have the +/- 10%.

Are you reading the 601 gyro gains at the brain box on the 601?

OK, I'll try the mix to the gyro aux channel, right. Then assign it to the slider switch number. And reading it on the brain box, actually I'm just looking at the menu on the stylus. I'll check it out before I actually fly this thing with the stylus.

I do like the inc/dec switch idea, though. Very versatile for sure. I'm not quite sure what I'd adjust most, but I'll bet it's great for CCPM final trimming.

It's actually great for adjusting governor settings while airborne.

37% on the 601 is something like 55% or -55% on the Stylus gyro screen. Just adjust the gyro gain until you see the gain setting you want on the brain box.

I looked through my heli manual (I don't have a .pdf version so I had to look at the index and skim) I didn't see any reference to where the inc/dec switch actually is...just that you can assign it. I also didn't see any text describing it. Where is the description and does anyone have a .pdf for use?)

Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

Go into the SW menu, assign inc/dec to SW 14/15 and then try what I said to try.

Thanks Z---would have been worth more if bidding hadn't already ended. And so here I am, on the ground, cluelessly staring at this stylus manual without a search function! If you see another ring that's not closed out, then I'll thank you.

OK, so here's what I've set-up, but won't try to fly with yet for reasons as you'll see below. I'm trying to add a gyro gain adjustment to VR trimmer #12 and clear the functionality of VR trimmer #11.

---To eliminate the Hi-LO- Pitch trimming functionality in both-----
In the Aux1 and Aux2 menues I turned the HI-PI-Trim>OFF.

In the Variable Resistor Trimmer assignments I eliminated the H/L pitch function for each flight mode (redundant)and kept the Aux1>11 and Aux2>12 assignments.

------------------
To add +-10% to the gyro gain using VR #12 I created a C-mix which has a master of A21 (Aux 2 data only) and a slave of the gyro. The screens look like

C-MIX>2 L>10%
MAS>A21 SLA>GY
H-POINT>0%
L-POINT>0%

Now here are some issues that I see anyway. Once I set the master of A21, I could only set the low point, even if I move the slider around.

Second, I'm also using the VoltMagic and I have put that onto Aux2 on other ships. What that means is that I put in a fail safe value of -100% and clip the end point to 85/85. What if I have a lockout---will the gain go to something extreme?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Plug the Voltmagic into a Y connector and you can use all of your ports.

Plug a servo into the gyro channel to see what your mix does.

Yes, I wasn't clear, but that's what I do with the Voltmagic and that's a great idea to check a channel with a servo! Probably a basic thing, but I've never considered it before. I can also just look at the gyro brain box too in this specific case, now that you got me thinking about checking the channel output. Thanks.
