Hey martinic;

What do you use for a paint mask? Do you use liquid mask and trace your design or have a manufactured paint mask?

Just wondering because a lot of what I used for larger canopies wont work on this tiny one...

Showed up great yesterday in the fog.
When I landed, I wiped the ice off the leading edges.

I had a few people ask what colors and paint I used on this canopy. I used Pactra sprint white, metallic blue and outlaw black for the windsheild.

I topcoated with Top Flite LustreKote crystal clear since I painted the outside. I wanted to paint the outside so the paint wouldn't get scraped up removing and installing the canopy. Took 2 days because of paint dry time...

Now all I have to do is learn to fly like I3DM....

put the canopy in photoshop and see how it would look like, if you like it go for it if you dont like it keep it the way it looks.

Here's mine, nothing too fancy, tamiya florescent red with white backing to bring out the brightness.

There are some great schemes here. Personally, I prefer schemes that have considerable contrast between top and bottom to help with orientation, e.g. dark on the top and bright on the bottom.

No question - that's a great paint job. But I've always like the translucent windshields on all helis. I wish I could find a slightly bigger one for the Rex.

I prefer to just lay the windshield on the canopy without trimming the canpoy. Might give extra strength? anyway the heli;s tail heavy and could do with the extra weight up front.

Anyone knows how to get those reflective effect on the windshield? mirror finish with blue tint like on some helmet visor? I was planning to spray silver under the wndshield but not sure if i can get the mirror finish or just matt silver?
